I wrote an actual fucking philosophy book. I don't want to post / link it because that's soliciting and I'd get banned, but I just want to publicly say I fucking did it.

Interesting read, but it reads like a 9th graders essay. It felt very unprofessional, if you want people to respect your writing and ideas you need to state them as fact, not as “I think” “I believe.” The weird interludes brought me out of the reading and like mentioned made me take it less seriously. For example, literally in the beginning, “uh anyways…” in its own line. Interesting concept, childishly written.

I stopped reading right here. Baby had his first "Whoa bro dude" philosophical moment while taking a computer science course. This writing you made is painfully cringe inducing and doesn't reflect that you've read any actual philosophy.

I'm going to be honest, I hadn't fully read it nor do I intend to, simply because I'm exhausted, however . . .

You're gonna get a lot of mixed responses, you already got some people bashing you. I'm not gonna sugarcoat and say you wrote something new or even rehashed something old in an interesting way, but I will tell you this: don't get disheartened. You seem young, take your licks and learn from it. You want to think difficult stuff and put yourself out there, that's admirable, but remember you're stepping into a world of giants.

Keep going, explore how your ideas fit into already established philosophies, from ancient to modern.

Good read anon. Here's my review

In Metaism, Anon introduces a philosophical viewpoint that is rooted in understading oneself, hence metaism. Anon's writing is unpretentious, simple, and to the point. More than that, his writing is clear and well organized into clear sections: introduction, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, conclusion. In terms of content, there are some sparks, but anon seems still young, preferring to make more of an artistic work than a rigurous thesis. Here it is by chapters:

>META AWARENESS
Here, he introduces his metaphysics, which is fundamentally mystical: it centers around the idea of understanding that our souls exist despite not being able to perceive them. Although anon cites Heidegger, it's not clear that he read him, because Heidegger has a more extensive exposition of Being.

>SELECT UNKNOWABLE BELEIFS
Here, anon introduces his epistemology: we have biases, and just as our souls are unknown to us, so are our biases. However, he does not wish that we adopt a defeatist mindset: we should explore and understand our biases, and, above all, embrace them. Rather that futilely trying to correct them, anon says we should instead use our biases in order to answer unanswereble metaphysical questions. This viewpoint was already presented by Hume, but anon does not seem to be aware of it.

>THE ALIKENESS BETWEEN CONCIOUSNESSES
Lastly, anon introduces his ethics which conclude with the golden rule as a conclusion of the likeliness between us all. Although we cannot prove that others exist, anon builds upon his previously stated epistemology and uses his psychological biases to claim that it's likely that others exist too. This was already used by Berkeley (argument from analogy).

>REVIEW CONCLUSION
Overall, anon put out a pretty good work. He's probably in his early 20s, so he's a talented young man. He obviously read a bit of philosophy, but not a lot of it presumambly because he wanted to explore philosophy by himself. Above all, he managed to create a coherent philosophy that builds up from metaphysics up to very valid ethics. In his philosophy, he makes room for mysticism, differences, and accord. Philosophically, it is of course nothing new, but it's a good exercise, it is well written, and it is a complete work. Now, what OP may not like to hear is the following: anon, you're a crypto-Christian. You're too young now to realise it, but within 5 years you'll be worshipping in a Church, probably an Orthodox Church.

Good luck, ignore all the hateful comments, and hold tight to your optimism about life because it's a true blessing.

are there no new avenues of philosophical inquiry that have no precedent? I am generally sympathetic to you point though. one should know the history and genealogy of a topic as a bare minimum prerequisite for a work on that subject to be taken seriously. But how does this apply to completely new concepts? surely there was a first philosopher who read no other and still wrote down his ideas. There is also the chance that someone who hasnt read any philosophy comes to a conclusion another philosopher came to but by different means that can glean new insights into the original work. which would be something that would be hindered by previous knowledge ("someone else already figured it out so why would I bother?" kind of deal). Is there zero value in that?

Drop the comedy if you want to be taken serious. Drop the awkward segues and work on better flow, from skimming it's very start stop start stop. Not coherent or fun to read. I'm still here. I read a lot of the posts in this thread, really liked the critique from >>20996257 this guy, I think he got most of it, though I don't think I rely on belief in the soul. I just call it consciousness. I also don't say that it's not perceivable, I mean it's not invisible, I can see "consciousness" in everything, though I didn't get into this really in the book. I think though he got the main points. I'm glad people commented on it even if some people thought it was childish, silly, goofy, and rough around the edges. It's obviously a passion project. I think I am going to continue reading philosophy and write more books. I don't want to lose the funny goofy childish side to it though, it's just how I write my thoughts.
