i dont get it. Is it truly that showing off books gives you dopamine? If I flaunt a book i feel bad about the book itself tbqh. It makes me want to read a book less because it feels like im posturing. Just reading that book to be cool which was never the initial intention but because of the flaunt feels like it actually was. Anyhow books for this feel?

$2ea from the council rubbish shop
They had a few Tom Clancey also but I'm not sure if he's worth reading

It was kinda nice to not find any good classics and mostly all books by sportsmen, Ellen Degenerate and Barack Obama on the shelves of the rubbish shop

I bought these in June and only read Silence. Didn't resonate much and was a bit tedious. May have more impact if one is religious.

Now and then I read a few entries from Little People and then imagine the beings I read about are going about their lives in my yard and areas nearby when I go for walks.

>They had a few Tom Clancey also but I'm not sure if he's worth reading
Every time I've revisited popular fiction from the 80s and 90s I feel disappointed because it just doesn't hold up for me. Dated cultural references, etc., the books just don't read as well. And I honestly don't remember much from his stuff any more than I remember what any episodes of Knight Rider or The A-team were about.

The one book where the Spanish amusement park had a roller coaster with cars shaped like Stuka dive bomber complete with sirens was fucking kek-worthy though.

>> No.20981909

Meant to add that his stuff was always just mindless TV-tier entertainment to me. If that's what you're looking for.

Thanks, It's what I suspected.
Whenever someone can pump out books bigger than bricks and they are constantly front and centre in the bookstore, I assume it's fatuous and superfluous with the perfect level of engagement to make normie brains smile in the same fashion a finely tuned McDonalds French Fry elicits.

I like that Tor Essentials edition. The cover is nice, and is made out of some rubbery feeling material that's pleasant to hold. Cheap, but costs cheap anyway. I guess it depends whether you mind reading from a book that large.

I think so. I also owned the pocket paperback versions of both books but this cover reminded me of The Book of Kells. The typeface is nice and it includes small graphite illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. As >>20982457 points out the book is indeed large, but that's a plus for me personally.
