This basic functionality is enough to explain the independent development of writing systems in isolated places and times.
If you want so badly to read quasi-religious meaning into something, focus on the spoken word. But even then you'll have to account for the massive divergence in phonemes and patterns. Even linguists are increasingly less and less sure of any "single original proto-language" ever existening, nevermind the notion that it could be reconstructed. So, good luck with that.
