It's a book. And it must be pretty great if it is praised by both the Financial Times and the Washington Post.

T-thanks man. It's alright.
I decided to finally buy it, in preparation for the show. I'd seen the Jackson films, and was already going through the Hobbit book, so I thought 'might as well'.
>>20949143
Thanks man. Though it's not my B-day anyone. The package took too many days (some silly strike with the mail men, or whatnot).

not to make this about me, but I seriously feel bad for shitting on you like that for just sharing that you bought yourself a book. unusually bad. again, I'm not trying to make this about me but i just want to let you know that, incidentally, I'm actually going to a mental health clinic tomorrow. I've been on the waiting list for some time. I really hope I'll be able to stop this wanton nastiness. It poisons the mind and doesn't lead to anything good. thank you anon for saying it's alright. I'm glad you're able to take pleasure from simple things and (seemingly) aren't bothered too much by the hatred i sent your direction for no reason. You're a better man than I am. I truly and honestly wish you the best and hope you thoroughly enjoy the book and the show. I sincerely hope that good things come your way. I don't even know why this bothers me as much as it does but I'm glad it does because maybe it'll make me change for the better. I hope this doesn't read as exaggerated or insincere because I mean every word. I almost feel like I can't apologize enough. I'm honestly sorry anon.
okay I'm done, I just wanted to let you know.
Have a great day anon.

You needn't worry about offending me, man. Been in this site for some years already, and I know the banter and insults and passes by. Just don't take them to heart and laugh it off.
I honestly wish you the very best with the therapy.
>>20949226
Yup. Eu por acaso comprei na Bertrand; tinham-me dado um voucher de aniversário e eu aproveitei. Também não paguei custos de envio, o que também é fixe..
>>20949239
It is. From the site I was buying, I was actually afraid they'd sent me an older copy (since it showed an older cover art). Glad it's the most recent (2006 I think).

>> No.20949635

I had thought about buying it, partially in support and sympathy for the translators (as I'm studying in a similar area, and had to do some translations and interpretation myself).
However. I ended up going with english because, as >>20949555 puts it, it's the original and I'm skillful enough to easily read it. And also due to prices and the type of copy. In Portuguese it is only sold in paperback, and moreover it's a pre-1999 translation (which means some mistakes were still present in the book) So, for the same price of the translation, I bought a newer hardback copy (and with a larger map of Beleriand, as well).
