Agreed, Europe probably has a leadership role to play in the world still but colonialism was just exploitative. But maybe it was all necessary in the long run. I don't think Europeans can go back to being Belgian Congo terrorizing psychopaths anymore, but they also can't go back to the stupid naivete of thinking "Africans are just like us." So what happens if we survive the current crisis? I actually wrote a book this year which was the culmination of like 12 years of philosophical inquiry. I had a period of feverish obsession following one of those cliche "flashes of insight", 10 hour days of work on it for months on end.
