Why is no one writing big Grimdark stories anymore? Is the genre dead? All I see these days are books about young PoC LGBTQ+ women in forbidden romances, striving against authority. Or relationships dramas.

Malazan is the series that killed fantasy for me. I've been struggling to get through other fantasy books after completing it. That doesn't mean I like Steven Erikson's writing. He's verbose and all his characters seem to be philosophers at times.

Theres alot of other, better books.

try Prince of Nothing, its grimdark and much preferable to Malazan. Plus Bakker is young, smart, proflific, and HOT. Steve is a balding goblin who knows nothing about philosophy.
