Well? Is manga literature?

>> No.20842457

Yes

No. Just because you like something or think it’s profound or has pages like a book doesn’t make it literature.

Barely literature. It's pictures with a chat bubble every now and then. Light novels are where it's at

“Picture book”, usually children’s books, but also scientific journals and the like.
Ever see a scientific book in managa form?
An epic poem in manga form? —oh, that reminds me of Dore’s illustrated Dante.

Anyway. Managa isn’t literature. You can tell Neon Genesis Evangellan however you spell it, in just text and it can be considered literature.

Anyway he’s pointing out the problem bookworms have too. Since the beginnings of literature. It breeds misanthropy. I love literature, but it damages some people the same as manga does to otaku. You can see it here

No I dont buy this ultra relativistic viewpoint that manga is "just another medium" and all mediums are somehow equal. The demographic dictates the market and weebs are the trashiest demographic of all.

Go into any manga community/forum and look around. Look at the front page of /a/. Or if you think /a/ is not representative of the community look at a more "normie" place like /r/manga. It's 90% isekai/coomer shit. Every few posts you get someome posting a borderline h page asking for source. The new series of the month is always some sex slave revenge hax power escapist fantasy. That's just the target demographic.
Now imagine if the entire literary community is like a goodreads group centered around smut. Or if 90% of films are like skinemax or syfy. That's the anime community.

There are some good ones sure but they're few and far between. And ironically weebs spurn anything that touches upon the 3dpd condition and think SoL moe is the pinnacle of taste. So an /a/ denizen would only like the series you posted because it contains "straight shota"

Stop paying attention to weeb communities and maybe you biased anons will discover suitable manga. They may not be easy to find, but the medium is enough diverse to host works not too different from renowned text books.

In my mind, manga features illustrations first and foremost while the text is secondary. Literature features text first and foremost. So it's not literature. If text was simply required to be literature, then movies with subtitles would be literature too. So would comics. Why do people say manga is literature but comics aren't. Because it's black and white? It makes no sense. The written word is the defining feature.
