Meaningless assertion, because you could just reverse the terms and make it about heterosexual culture and its repression of queerness and anyone straying from gender ideals. For hundreds of years people wasted their lives and exhausted themselves with self-surveillance and guilt, and then enforced that same regime on the people who followed them, all because they were threatened by the idea of gay desire.

I just got done watching a bad vampire hunter movie, and it struck me that I can't think I've ever come across a single piece of media where the vampires are intelligent and actively take advantage of their abilities while also minimizing their vulnerabilities. It's always just "guy has hypnosis/super speed/super strength and must drink blood and he knows he is weak to sunlight/garlic/stakes in the heart/silver/cruciforms/etc. but doesn't do a fuckin' thing about this."

I figure that there's gotta be a few books out there somewhere where the vampires are just as clever as the vampire hunters.

I don't hate the gays themselves, in fact i think they are a victim of a form of genetic malformation. Attraction to the same sex and "gender dysphoia" are defects. If we lived in a rational world, people in charge of scientific research would be trying to figure out ways to reverse what causes this imperfection and guarantee a normal life.

I mean if you think i'm wrong, just look at 3rd world countries, places like Mexico and Brazil. In that sort of land you run the risk of being beaten to death for being openly homosexual in the streets, and even in a best case scenario it is social suicide. Surely it would be beneficial for the so-called "gays" in places like these if the first world researched, developed and made available whatever would be the appropriate treatment to make a same-sex attracted person into a normal individual, with healthy and natural sexual drive.

But neither the progressives nor the conservatives are ready for this conversation yet.
