Harold blooms book on the romantics is better than his work on Shakespeare and contains essays on all the romantics.

Byron is better but I prefer Shelley
>’TISdone—but yesterday a King!And arm’d with Kings to strive—And now thou art a nameless thing:So abject—yet alive! Is this the man of thousand thrones,Who strew’d our earth with hostile bones,And can he thus survive? Since he, miscalled the Morning Star, Nor man nor fiend hath fallen so far.

Agreed, but he *needs* far more than that; any anon who reads the 1805 Prelude is going to be both stunned and delighted by Wordsworth and will no doubt read more as a result

of course, i added it because it's his best and most accessible poem and also showcases his free verse on a smaller scale than the prelude. for someone who wrote almost entirely within rhyme scheme to the point of it getting annoying, wordsworth is fucking stellar in free verse
> Nor less, I trust,
>To them I may have owed another gift,
>Of aspect more sublime; that blessed mood,
>In which the burthen of the mystery,
>In which the heavy and the weary weight
>Of all this unintelligible world,
>Is lightened:—that serene and blessed mood,
>In which the affections gently lead us on,—
>Until, the breath of this corporeal frame
>And even the motion of our human blood
>Almost suspended, we are laid asleep
>In body, and become a living soul:
>While with an eye made quiet by the power
>Of harmony, and the deep power of joy,
>We see into the life of things.

That's blank verse, not free verse.

>It is a beauteous evening, calm and free,
>The holy time is quiet as a nun,
>Breathless with adoration; the broad sun
>Is sinking down in it's tranquility;
>The gentleness of heaven broods o'er the sea:
>Listen! The mighty Being is awake,
>And doth with his eternal motion make
>A sound like thunder--everlastingly.
>Dear Child! dear Girl! that walkest with me here,
>If thou appear untouched by solemn thought,
>Thy nature is not therefore less divine:
>Thou liest in Abraham's bosom all the year;
>And worshipp'st at the Temple's inner shrine,
>God being with thee when we know know it not.
