He has an autobiography did you know that? Why get a biography of someone when you can get a literal biography made by that someone.

Little fun historical fact for you, in 1977, over 1,200 bones making up 15-28 dead bodies was found in the basement of Benjamin Franklin

His protege ran a school of anatomy and it was "difficult to find a steady supply of human bodies to study regularly"

So Franklin was either a serial killer or used his basement to host illegal "anatomical studies" using corpses stolen from graves

Which is stranger?

Man also owned slaves and advertised the sale of slaves in his newspaper, yet spoke out against slavery later in his life

Thomas Paine is the only good-hearted revolutionary patriot it seems, who practiced what he preached, speaking ferociously against slavery while never once practicing it himself

i heard in a lecture on the enlightenment that his biography didn't have the "internal introspection" or whatever we have come to expect since modernity. he just tells you "i did this, then i did that", he's never like "i was resentful about my brother so i ran away to philly" or any shit like that. for that kind of psychoanalytic bullshit you have to read a secondary source.
