Why do some authors feel the need to do interviews? I understand that people in the film and music industry have their balls tied, but authors can choose to go the Pynchon route.

Even film and music has had its Pynchons. Grow up.

They either like the attention or their publisher thinks it's good for marketing and had managed to persuade them.

if i ever wind up getting any attention from my work I'll be happy to interview, as long as its with people who have read my work. I probably wouldnt agree to interview with morning tv show hosts or anything, unless i decided to sell out and i thought itd get me something i wanted

It's networking and publicity.
>feel the need to
A lot of publishers ask authors to do it and few authors actually question this. Book signing is the same way. It's not because authors think their handwriting is a blessing, it is a chance for readers to meet the author.

Bukowski was actually interesting enough as a person to do interviews. Pynchon is boring so he chooses to be mysterious to make himself seem interesting

>> No.20662190

pynchon would literally have nothing clear to say in an interview since his entire schtick is to write epic random shit that only fucks w the reader

Absolute bather

No, they understand it perfectly, they are just afraid their fave writer will be exposed as a retard like many artists have.
