Has anyone ever attempted (and successfully completed) Ray Bradbury's challenge

>1 poem
>1 short story
>1 essay

before bed for 1000 nights?

>> No.20635539

No but I completed the Roy Bradbury challenge, which was letting Roy Bradbury put his finger up my ass. That's what Roy said anyway.

Who the hell has time to read all that every night before sleeping?

Well I only slept about two hours last night, so that left plenty of time to read. Sleep disorders suck. Would not recommend.

I've been reading 1 poem and 1 short story for 200 days so far. I can't find enough essays to read but I've read quite a few. I really liked Eudora Welty's essays.

Where do you even find that many quality short stories?

Everyone. Just turn off the internet and the TV. Assuming you work 9-5, M-F, then you get home around 6, eat around 7, and go to sleep around 10. That gives you 3 hours between dinner and going to sleep. In that time, you can easily read 1 poem, 1 short story, and 1 essay.

Though I'd argue you'd get the same benefit watching 1 music video, 1 high-quality youtube video of an educational nature, and 1 hour-long episode of an episodic television show. When you think of it that way, pretty much everyone comes pretty close to achieving the challenge.

Just using it as an example. Most people's work days are divided into 8 hours of work, 8 hours of sleep, 8 hours of "leisure." That "leisure" time is often eaten up by getting ready for and traveling to and from work, plus meals, but unless you're really fucking up your work/life balance, you should have at least a 3-hour block of time for yourself every day, even on workdays.

Bradbury has a collection. He’s a phenomenal writer once you get into his less popular stuff. He wrote a short story a week for years.
