Shakespeare's epithet is 'the Bard'
Dante's epithet is 'il sommo poeta' or 'the Highest Poet'.
The fact that no other writer has an epithet just goes to show how far Shakespeare and Dante have transcended literature.

Homer had an epithet for the Greeks, he was *the* poet, poietes. And we call him the father of poetry.

Epithets are for fags.
Pushkin's tragic life and death far outshine Shakespeare.

D'Annunzio is "Il Vate" (a word for vaticinator and, by extension, for poet).

If only James Macpherson could write even passably good prose or poetry, then his "ossian" might be impressive

Oh boy, I sure wish you had a single shred of evidence to back up the claim that Ossian was real.

About as much to show Homer was real which is beside the point that he was known as the King of Song.

Homer is assigned actual literature which actually existed, and has survived to the modern day. Ossian has nothing but myths and rumors and James MacPhersons fake attributed writings

Okay so they both have equal grounds
Homers first written poems are from 500bc
Ossians first written poems are from 800ad
This puts them on identical footing
