There is more to power dynamics and hierarchy then who can beat up who. Being able to win a fight is physical dominance, but being able to win over a room and turn everyone against someone is social dominance if you will. You might be able to beat someone, but are you able to take control of a a group and lead the group so that the group have fun? You know what happens in young people at school on the playground? Everything is decided by who can beat up who, but as people mature they stop being like that and the person that is best at being social is the one that raises to the top. You are not the alpha just because you can beat someone up.

These qualities are good to have because it means that you someone that is good to be in a relationship with, usually. However they are not enough in of them self to attract women. You need things like cockiness, attitude, humor, social savvy, charisma, playful, cocky and all that. Women pick men primarely on a mans ability to climb a social hierarchy. His ability to get status and be liked within a group. His ability to make allies and friends, his ability to court attention, to play others. Yes his ability to physically fight matters also, but as you see that is less important then social maneuvering, charm and looks. The world has always been like that and probably always will. Perhaps even more since physical dominance matters less and less because its less required for survival. Do you think you could have just walked in to any tribe and challenged the leader to a fight and then been come the leader of that tribe? The other tribesmen would have killed you in your sleep because you would not have their acceptance and approval. (unless it was a tribe that only honored physical dominance and the physical strongest) Even monkey's and gorillas will take out the leader if he is a shitty primitive violent leader.

I somewhat agree with what you said. I just feel cheated out by my parents and institutions that have reached me to be a good person, whereas Chad was anything but good. He would interrupt, manipulate, embarrass, conspire and etc. Just feel cheated out, that's all. I maybe could have socially dominated him too, if I knew that this is what women reward. Taking risks goes both ways, especially when you're dealing with human beings who have their own values and motivations. Maybe it was a bad decision by Chad. Maybe the woman was a basketcase and chose to fabricate a rape claim afterwards. Maybe Chad got a serious STI afterwards. Maybe they got carried away and the woman got pregnant. These are all risks that Chad chose to take in this particular situation for a night of fun.

If you decided it wasn't worth it for that particular woman, you should stick to your guns. It's great to be sociable, but it's important to be ethical, since what's good is synonymous with what is wise in the long-term. Machiavellian tactics usually end up failing in the long-term. People fly too close to the sun after building their fiefdom on a house of cards.

Though, I think the other posters are right. You're probably not being masculine enough. I just wanted to give the other perspective that masculinity isn't some kind of Platonic ideal but rather a means to a virtuous end.
