So, I was scrolling through a thread where an anon asked users how many of the top 100 books they've read to , in my guess, see how many /lit/izens actually read. So, people was saying stuff like 2, 3, 10 etc and then I saw one guy boasted about how he had read 68 of these books and told all the other anons to bow down to him. My immediate thought was, how many of these books does he actually remember. Like, when anons on here talk about how they read a book a week, how much of it do they actually remember? Surely at some point reading that many books just becomes a past time and not an actual experience anymore since non of it stays in your head besides a hazy memory of some bits if that. That is why I think that we should focus less on quantity and more so on quality and find who we connect with and delve in that genre.

Sorry, this was a bit of a disjointed rant but I thought of that Carl Sagan bit about how in our lifetimes we can only read so many books. So why waste it trying to reach a quota. If I read a book, even if I'm half way through, and don't like it I drop it. I've got one life and I'm not getting any younger so why waste it torturing myself reading pseud books to try an appear more interesting than I am?

Damm you're really upset I read 68 books from a list of 100? Grow up. I read to entertain myself.

The only reason to finish the vast majority of entries on this list is to impress art hoes. Look at >>20493152 to see what happens when you don't remember what happens in a book because you dropped it. You will get shown up by art hoes. Embarrassing.

Or maybe there are people on this board who aren't plebs who actually like these books.

87. 2014 was a pretty good year for the top 100. I should really give The Good Earth another read, I really did enjoy it.

Are you retarded? Reading 30-40 books a year is not a superhuman feat. Spend three years reading and you will have read a hundred great books. You are saying the equivalent of "this guy just played a chopin piece on the piano, how many of those notes can this guy even remember?" Bitch every single one, because he spent a hundred hours learning that shit. Meanwhile you sit on your ass and don't understand why you're not on the same level without putting in any of the work. Get reading, or get the fuck out, i don't care. Your thread is shit and so are you.

They're not textbooks you tard. You dont need to memorize any book in its entirety to get by. You get something out of them that connected with you and move on. They are dense and people should probably think about integrating what they read more, but at the end of the day its a good use of your time

I'm reading roughpy a book a day and I run through the book in my head, chapter by chapter, after I finish reading it
keep in mind though that you can also reread books

Most pseuds will never realize this. They think you can only read a book once.
