Along with what other anons have said It's also just a play on incel culture the same way anime and cunny hyperborean edits are now being made. It works because you're part of the in group. It's why it's extremely funny when you say it's over when you burn your toast or something, it's an extremely charged statement due to it's history while at the same time being so commonplace that anyone can get it.

"It's over" back then used to be a captchphrase in the original self-proclaimed "incel"/ blackpill communities.
As you said, they used to say it so much whenever something "blackpilling" happened it became funny to say it for literally everything.
In a way, you use it to make fun of your foermer incel self.
To me it got so bad I keep saying it IRL to my friends and my girlfriends. Once it even happened during a meeting at work.
