is purgatorio and paradiso just as good as inferno or not worth reading at all

Paradiso is better, there's less Dante shitposting about all the people who slightly wronged him suffering for all eternity.

how about you read both, then create your own opinions on each text. You will gain so much more by reading each book yourself rather than taking the opinion of people online on something they probably never read. Even if they don't live up to the original in your eyes, there is a certain satisfaction in reading each book in a collection in its entirety, especially the divine comedy.

You presumably have all three books if you have the pic you posted...so why wouldn't you just read all three? I don't understand this mentality
That aside, Purgatorio and Paradiso surpass Inferno considerably. Absolutely transcendent works of poetry

Ciardi is great and very readable if you're still deciding on a translation. Go for the full edition

>> No.20471672

They’re both more beautiful and by design Dante uses more elevated language the further you read. Inferno is only read because it’s the beginning and it’s edgy in concept. Besides if you read just inferno that’s like reading a poem of three stanzas and only reading the first stanza.

I've read all three (Longfellow translation though which apparently isn't that good) and I think Inferno>Purgatorio>Paradiso, but they're all great works. I've heard that same sentiment shared a lot on /lit/, and I've also seen lots of people trash Paradiso, but I still think it has its good moments.
Anyway I think you should 100% read Inferno and Purgatorio, and if you've read them you might as well read Paradiso
