What do you think about the fact that to make friends, we have to engage in activities which are not strictly social in purpose, purely so we can gain proximity to each other? Our goal here is purely social, am I upsetting the pro bowler who joined the bowling club to bowl while I am only there to make friends? Are shared interests a requirement to make friends, or is it just a consequence of our isolating society where more and more of the civil environment is structured to maximize any time spent in close proximity to be purely for economic means? What happened to purely social gatherings organized for that purpose, such as balls/parties/brunches. maybe this is all happening and im just not part of that class of people, or maybe it could happen if i just did it msyelf and quit bitching about it.. Is this just one of those things that does have deep entrenched issues but for my own personal well-being it's not worth delving into and I should just say fuck it and go join some book clubs

I consider NJ around Hoboken/JC a part of the NYC metro, but any time I say so Manhattan people have an aneurysm about it.

I organized the last one, and (unfortunately) am forever in that picture. Most of us that came kept hanging out afterwards pretty regularly, but I'm pretty sure they're mostly out of town for the summer.
I'd be open to attending another one, and I'd say if you live in the area, and have an evening to spare, so should you.
