Which scifi novels best evoke the atmosphere of idling outside of a bustling trade hub spaceport?

Damn I remember that music from the one time I ever tried to get into EVE, more than a decade ago it must be now

I wanted to get in on goonfleet but all I ended up doing was aimlessly lagging around high sec space trying to understand missions for an afternoon

the music is the only thing keeping it from feeling entirely soulless now

so I'm looking for any novels which will scratch that itch, it doesn't matter to me if it has no literary merit. anything with an emphasis on trade and hauling (even if it's just automated)

Honestly this doesn't really fit the bill in any direct way but the Foundation books, especially the earlier ones, have a comfy feel of camping out in a cozy corner of space as the galactic society around them dies, and a society of traders does feature as a major plot point

But you'd be better off asking /sffg/. I can't think of any "picaresque" scifi books based on space trading, all the ones I can think of are about larger things even if they have comfy space travel (like Forever War).

if you ever get the itch again the best way to find a good group of guys and not becoming linemember#923984 is to find a newbro friendly wormhole corp.

Bumping because I Just came back hours later and I still can't get over how fucking good this music is

Why does it seem to have so much more weight, depth, and character than ostensibly similar video game synth type stuff? Anyone have any other recommendations for music like this? It's taking me back to being a kid
