Hey, what does /lit/ think about Dresden Files? I just finished reading Ghost Story, and I was curious what people thought about the series.

Awful urban fantasy series that a considerable amount of people on /lit/ seem to enjoy.

Awww

Woooo

What's so awful about it? It's not a masterpiece, but it's a pretty fun action series with an enjoyable cast.

Unrealistic Mary-Sue main character and derp dialogue to name a couple problems

Butcher hides behind the notion that it's "supposed" to read like a pulpy detective novel so that he doesn't have to be original, but just paste fantasy elements into a series of bad detective novels.

I'm loving it. It's a shame that it will take another 10 years to get close to being finished.

I suggested Jim Butcher to two of my friends and they both enjoyed them.

Huh? Dresden fails all the time.

And the dialogue could get a little...off tangent sometimes, but I think it's good fun. Like in Ghost Story, how there's all these Star Trek references during the dramatic climax...but it worked, because it was fun.

I'm not going to lie, I'll be super sad when it ends. I've been reading it every year since Blood Rites.

I discovered it earlier this year.

He has written 13, and he claims he wants to write 25. The final three are meant to be a trilogy.

Years of entertainment left, but it sucks that they are spaced so far apart.
