Upon the moment wherein the sun rises from the horizon marking a new day on this glories Earth, I begin by reading the faint scratchings on the walls from those of yonder years.
After that I read through the Epic of Gilgamesh and then dabble in the comedies of Aristophanes.
From there onwards I read the words of Marcus Tullius Cicero, that man was ahead of his time.
I continue on in this predictable pattern making my way through the great works of Vasari and Voltaire all the way up to the present day where I read your pathetic post and perhaps even the thoughts inside your head as they are written so clearly upon your brow.
And after an insightful day, as I watch the sun once again creep away below those distant hills, I will have read all known works of mankind. From there, I rest, but tomorrow, I shall begin again

Anon, it is fine to read about 3 pages per minute (obviously depends on the format of the book). If you just read for an hour before bed, that's 180 pages, which is more than respectable. Ignore the other anons in this thread just baiting and gaslighting you. The key is to consistently read every day or almost every day so you have time to think about what you're reading but you don't wait too long between reading so you lose the thread of what you're reading.

I can't read anymore. It's been a while since I last finished a book. My attention span is in shambles.

I can read as far as two paragraphs and then my mind wanders off into other thoughts, or I simply get up, anxious to do something else. Otherwise if I'm tired my brain shuts down and I fall asleep forgetting what I've just read. I can't keep up with plots and scenes in fiction, I can't read non-fiction without quickly taking a detour in my mind, a new train of thought every minute. I used to dive into books as a teenager, eager for the next chapter. I can't do it like I used to anymore.

This is fine to do. As long as you are learning new words, whats the problem? Or, alternatively if you want, just jot down each word you are unsure of and continue reading, then afterwards look up the list of words you wrote down. Just keep at it and find the reading style that works for you.
