I don’t think he even liked Huey Lewis & The News, Genesis or Whitney Houston. they were just popular artists during the 80s and people talked about them. almost everything he writes about them is wrong as well, which is hilarious because Huey Lewis & The News is now irrelevant and mainly remembered because of AP. everyone remembers the part about Hip To Be Square being a statement about the band itself, about the pleasures of conformity etc, but that is almost the opposite of the song’s intended meaning. similarly, the outfits described are intentionally supposed to look awful if worn in real life, and the food makes no sense.
