Hey, /lit/

I was thinking about learning Russian. Some of my favorite books are translated from Russian

So how might I go about learning this new language? Are there any programs I could pay for to teach me? I've heard good things about the Rosetta Stone program. Any thoughts on that or something else I should look into?

Rosetta Stone is expensive.

You should just open up an account at livemocha.com, switch your keyboard to Russian (in Window's control panel. If you have Mac, you're a dumb faggot) and speak with some natives.

All of the above is free, by the way.

You learn a language by taking classes, going to the country where it's spoken, watching movies and reading books on the language, learning the grammar bit by bit and expanding your vocabulary constantly.

Michel Thomas Foundation Russian.

Penguin has a book on learning Russian. It's the best imo.

Go to sharedtalk.com to talk with natives,

I can ship you a book called golosa (voice) that I don't like but you are welcomed to use.

Dom

There I know one. And I sat in class where all they did was watch classic films in Russian, but most likely if you don't know the vocabulary you won't pick out any of the individual words. I've tried watching children shows with my little knowledge in russian and it's hard to follow.
