He got knocked retarded by a van after years of knocking himself retarded with coke and booze. After book four the series goes completely to shit and it was honestly pretty dumb even before that.

no idea but I can't help but admire it a bit just because of how bizarre it is. Even if it's dumb.

Perfectly put. Book 4 is the apex, the rest is mediocre. That van really fucked him up.

Book 1 was really good

I like the very ending of Dark Tower otherwise yes book 4 was the last good one.
I would say Gunslinger is exceptionally good and different from a lot that I've read. It's standalone in a way.

Now that the dust has settled, can we all agree that the Crimson King was Santa Claus?

I really wanted to like it. It had some cool ideas, but it's so hard to read. And the characters are barely there.

I read them as a teenager. Loved the first three, strange world, characters, never read or watched anything like it before. Hated four, liked five even the consensus seems to be its where the series dived. Didn't care too much for six and seven.

>> No.20257431

Blaine the mono was a cool part, i liked mordered and dandelo, all the wild west robot shit i thougnt sucked, the baby eating vampires were kinda neat, i'm partial to the bits that cross over with h8s other stuff...

>> No.20257453

I liked the concept of Mordred but he should've been introduced much earlier for me to really give a shit about him.

>>20256213

I'm seeing lots of love for five even though a decade ago when it first came out I remember hearing a lot of people say it was just boring. I liked the action scenes, and thought it was pretty fun as Stephen King's version of 7 Samurai. Underrated I guess but I can see where why the stuff with Calahan dragged for a lot of people

I mostly agree with your post. I vaguely remember Wind Through the Keyhole being okish.

>> No.20258429

>>20258316
The wind throughthe keyhole has the same problem most "story inside a story" books have. The inner story is by far better than the outer one and roland could have just narrated the inner one.

I never read that one, it came out a while after I finished the original series. Didn't see the point since the story was already finished.

Money, likely. It's painfully obvious that about halfway through he ran out of both the ideas and the will to proceed.
