No, I think its essentially different. If we take the terms left and right as a spectrum rather than concrete things (which I think is fair seeing how historically the exact goals of left and right were different at different points and more describes revolution and conservation).

If You were to model something as you seem to do as the difference between 0 and one, any point between would effectively be adding towards the one. But I think that is essentially unrepresentative. Because leftism in the wider sense isnt moving towards a specific goal, but contextual ones (guns drugs healthcare federal power etc). just as rightism is. thus synthesis is formed rather than diometrics. Its not out with the old in with the new, its the old iteration its aspects but not changing completely and not changing in specific definite ways towards an absolute ends. for example, there was less restriction on tabacco in 1970 then there is today. and there is more restriction on marahuana in 1970 then there is today.
