Anyone else still confused by the white walkers?
I thought Martin didn't like traditional good vs evil. Are they just a plot device to explore how all the factions to reconcile their differences?
My theory is that humanity has somehow broken a sacred agreement with the White Walkers, and Bran will have to negotiate a peace deal with them, and eventually seal it with a marriage. Probably between a White Walker and Jon, as the Targaryen fire wight of the story.
It feels like the most logical ending, since it kind of subverts the chosen hero trope, while turning it into more of a post-modern inter-personal political drama.
There isn't very much setup for it, so who knows. Night's King maybe.
