No author was ever truly ahead of time. No greek writer ever wrote about spaceships, no victorian novelist ever predicted the twitter. Writers cannot think ahead of their own era, even science fiction writers only muse on extensions of their current one, thats why sci-fi as a genre coincided with industrial revolution. We call those "ahead of time" who retroactively fit our sensibilities and provided a change that just happened to be adopted as a norm.
