Is /lit/ a metaphor for life? I'm thinking of the hot air, the overblown egos, the barely disguised insecurity, the nugatory donnybrooks, and most of all, the perpetual and inescapable reprisal of the same dead threads (viz., western canon, tao lin, recommendation, and 'what does /lit/ think of this' threads). The cast changes but the story continues without aim or purpose. Am I right?

/lit/ is a better representation of real life than most other boards, if that's what you're getting at

the futile meta-reflections.

Whoa... I just had this awesome epiphany.

The internet is just like life! Because it's full of people! And in life, you encounter people!
Some of them you like, and most of them you don't even care for, and some of them you dislike!
It's fucking amazing.

i found this actually to be somewhat thought provoking. at least OP "reflects"; i've never read any comment of yours that wasn't "dull"

Thanks for your contribution. If I may elucidate further, I meant it in a more systemic way. The way threads are born on the front page; venture through the other 14, occasionally scintillating and percolating with energy and life, occasionally sitting dull, forlorn, and forgotton; their eventual and inevitable death only to rise from the ashes as the thread is rehashed anew -- the analogue seemed very striking to me.
