what does that mean? because it seems depressing to me in a modern capitalistic sense but I am thinking what people back then meant by that? couldn't be an artform because not everyone was creating art. So what did they mean by excellence? moral excellence? excellence of physical and character traits?

I've fucked enough, had my heart broken, broken hearts enough etc
etc. that now my big problem is finding a girl I actually connect with. I struggle to find men that I connect with, let alone women. I can't imagine spending my life with someone who wasn't on the same wavelength, but I live in a shit wannabe global city and I don't know if I'm ever gonna meet that girl you know.
