Hello /lit/. I put my heart and soul into THIS BOOK SERIES CALLED MYREFLY. I'm currently writing the sequel, Book 2 - Occult, and it will be released later this year, as well as book 3 and 4.
>myrefly.com
>amazon.com/dp/B09VDDPQCN
Because I'm too autistic and conspiratorial for social media, only a handful of people are aware Book 1 exists. So... I have decided to PIRATE MY OWN BOOK and give it to you book-loving fucks for free.
>WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? DON'T YOU WANT TEH MONEYS?
When the series becomes popular, it's inevitable this will be pirated. I, as the author / illustrator, would rather be the person distributing this piracy than some soi-boi shmuck with a faggot agenda. Those are MY agendas, damn it! Think of me as your friendly neighborhood crack dealer, giving you highly addictive free-samples of my crack out of the goodness of my heart - 'cause we're bros and you earned it, man!
>WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG? :D
As mentioned earlier, I am the illustrator (do not steal, original content... unless? :3) I draw cute monster girls and will continue doing so until the day I croak, leaving a legacy of isekai-loving weebs in my wake.
>Secure Tripfag
DEAL WITH IT :D
>GET ON WITH IT!
In my following posts, I will share the raw text of my book. Feel free to reply to those posts and either roast me or shower me with praise. I am NOT claiming I am a "good author". I am, however, claiming you will have a good time and YOU WILL LOVE MYREFLY. Love it unironically. Love to hate it. Both are inevitable outcomes. Myrefly is love, Myrefly is life. I'm here to entertain you fucks; your not-so-humble court jester. I just used a semicolon; that's how you KNOW I'm fucking serious.
>No really... why are you doing this?
Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) forbids me from posting this ANYWHERE else. Put simply, it's an exclusivity deal. If I give Amazon exclusivity, I get a 70% royalty on Amazon sales for letting them cuck every other publisher. That means posting this on 4chan is a direct violation of my contract. Fuck Amazon. I'm getting my cake and eating it too.
>I'll tattle on Amazon you're doing this... haha get canceled, nerd!
And I'll deny pirating my own book, obviously. I frequent 4chan for the opportunity to be honest. I can't be honest anywhere else in this fucked up clown world. This is my way of connecting with like-minded outcasts. Don't be a jerk! I came here with the express intent of offering you a free service.
>You're not the real Jack Prosper
Thank you, that's the plan. Also... I can spoil events of future books to Anons here who can point to these threads as the first appearances of those literary concepts, proving in the future this handle I use is the real-deal (again, unless Amazon's asking. At which point I'm still publicly denying it).
>Ask me anything
I'm buzzed and I'm here to have a good time. Let's have fun. :DDD

>Thread 2

>Spring of 4045
>20 Years Prior

A young man (age 25) with clean, professionally tailored clothes exits the waypoint teleporter connecting the town of Canopy Gold Leaf with its closest neighbor: Starfall village. A circular plot of land in the center of a dense forest. The Canopy, like the ones everywhere else on Grexia, were monolithic trees of varying scale. Each Canopy protected its inhabitants from certain doom… or so the legends claim! Starfall’s Canopy was in full bloom: small golden flowers resembling four-pointed stars complimenting verdant greens.

The affluent human cheerfully approaches the brewery embedded in the tree’s bark. Its tiny hand-carved sign above the front door reads: Tails of Grandeur.

>* * *

Zone Craft (age 9) greets the young man entering the demi-human establishment. “Sorry, mister. I can’t do special orders without him.”

“Not a problem!” lighting up, “See those potions, over there?” pointing at the shelf. “I’m here to buy all of them.”

Zone scratched an antler. “Uh -”

“How can I help?”

“They’re missing tags…”

The visitor empties his fine leather bag. Gold coins piling onto each other in a twinkling crescendo of chimes. Zone’s eyes shimmered at the sudden accumulation of wealth. The most talent he’s ever seen in one place. “I believe that’s appropriate for the four of them.”

Zone nods, reaching for the coveted elixirs without uttering a word. His mind was lost in fantasy. His father’s reaction to the piles of gold was going to be huge!

>Grexia: Tonari
>Thread 2

“Twenty-five percent?!” Tonari Craft (age 31) screamed. “You sold ALL of our Epiphanies for the price of ONE!”

“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” the young demi bawls.

Tonari flinches in response to his son’s predictable tantrum, causing the proud father to deeply regret his short-tempered outburst. As far as Tonari was concerned, his business-savvy apprentice wasn’t at fault. The talent Zone earned was what they would have accepted last year, had demand for the elixirs in question remained the same. Tonari bent over with open arms. Zone accepts, alleviating the hostility between them. “Can you describe the customer who bought them?”

“H-He was human,” brushing away tears with his sleeve. “He wore nice clothes. I-I think he was from the city.”

“Diamond Veil?”

“Uh huh. His bag was really nice.”

“Humans…” Tonari growled. “He knew what they were actually worth,” indulging his prejudice. “Humans are exploiters and thieves! Always be extra cautious when they’re around… I don’t want this happening again.”

“O-Okay,” sniffling.

>> No.20116492

Good on you for putting yourself out there, I'll just buy it. Good luck semi-anon

>> No.20116498

Layka Craft, Tonari’s youngest daughter (age 6), frolics through the door in his wake. Sealed envelope in hand. “Daddy! Look, look…” Tonari recognized the wax emblem branding its contents, then gasped.

>Grexia: Teslohan
>Thread 2

The human called Teslohan Pandeska rushes to the aid of his half-brother in their family mansion’s court. A radiant elixir protected by the padding of his fine leather bag.

Dalliser Pandeska (age 24) paces the throne-adjacent waiting area behind the privacy screen forged from polished-brass. Dalliser had the mixed features of a feline and hare. Long, elliptical ears matching the color of his short cerulean locks. A furry tail tipped with a ball of white fluff.

“Hey Dall,” informally making his presence known.

“Tes!” features animating. “I thought you were going to miss-”

“Your lordly ascension? I wouldn’t dare!”

Dalliser was shaking.

“You look like crap.”

“T-Thanks.”

“I knew you were going to panic... That’s why I got you… THIS!” revealing the contents of his bag.

“Woah! I think I’ve seen one of those before in… Dad’s collection?”

“Yeah, you have,” heart racing. “THIS is an Elixir of Epiphany.”

“No way!” swishing his tail excitedly. “... Dad’s gonna MURDER you.”

“No no no,” laughing “I fetched this myself straight from the source! They create these in the middle of a distant forest! Finding Dad’s supplier was a lot of work… I really hope this pays off! You only get to ascend once.”

PLUNK!

Uncorking the bottle. Teslohan hands Dalliser the flask.

“Every drop!”

>* * *

“My father was, and still is, an outstanding leader! As head of the Pandeska family, I swear to protect our Canopies from the greedy, the corrupt, the disloyal, and the wicked. While I can’t claim we have achieved this vision on all fronts - I believe we are closer than ever to reaching The Promised Era. May those who led before me continue enjoying their retirement… My name is Dalliser Pandeska, and as your lord, I will uphold these tenants in mind, body, and will… for Grexia!”

“For Grexia!” the celebrity patrons in front of his throne cheer.

[Pause]

Dalliser’s personal butler, Zodip Grim (age 29), was the first to congratulate the new lord’s ceremonial accomplishment. A tall human with broad features, warm skin, and short brown hair. A regal tone of voice that was magnitudes more formal than the lord Dalliser himself.

“Permission to speak freely, my lord?”

“Dalliser… Just Dalliser,” disliking his shift in status, “proceed.”

“I was expecting you to fail.”

“You’re not alone,” Dalliser chuckled.

“Your secret?”

>> No.20116513

“Confidence in a bottle,” showing him the empty flask.

“To quell your anxious disposition?” Zodip recalled. “I recognize its design… That bottle’s unique to Gold Leaf, though I believe they brewed its contents in the neighboring village.”

“So YOU’RE the one aiding Teslohan!”

“Forgive me for not thinking of it myself,” he frowned. “No… I did not.”

>Grexia: Tonari
>Thread 2

“To the Craft family in Canopy Starfall. My name is Adalace Pandeska. My husband, Dalliser, recently ascended to the head of his bloodline. I am told your Elixir of Epiphany cured his chronic anxiety, where no medication or sorcery has prevailed. Their gossip claims his father was quite fond of your products as well, making this a coveted family secret. To summarize: I have selfishly decided to reward you with a mutually beneficial gift.”

Tonari stopped reading, inhaled deeply, and resumed.

“To increase your products’ availability to the family, should the need arise, I am bestowing Diamond Veil property to you under three conditions. First: you may only produce and distribute the Elixir of Epiphany in our capital. Second: orders from Pandeska staff have priority - no exceptions. Lastly: your new surname becomes Epiphany.”

>* * *

Tonari Epiphany approached his bags by the front door. Zone and Layka Epiphany were waiting by the entrance to bid their father farewell.

His son was slouching.

Layka’s in tears. “Please don’t leave,” warbling.

“Don’t cry, sweetheart,” ruffling her short pink curls with his palm. “You get to visit me every week! I need you to be strong, so we can enjoy this blessing in the future. Remember Larx? He’s going to help run the shop when I’m gone… as long as I eventually grant him the deed.”

“And you’ll let us move in with you in the city?” Zone yearned.
“Yes, of course! When you’re older, you will inherit the new shop from me when I’m ready to retire - if you still want it. Until then, be happy! You’ve been on your own before… it’ll be just like when I’m out shopping.”

Zone smiled.

Layka hugged him tightly.

“It says here your sibling, Layka, is living with you?”

“That’s correct,” Zone nods.

“And your sibling’s age?”

“Sixteen.”

“I see,” their Gold Leaf lender sighed. “The mayor’s lending policies require adults sixteen and older to co-sign in the event of the primary’s extended absence… We will revoke your leasing offer UNLESS I observe Layka signing these documents, in-person, before closing.”

“Canopy’s Blight!”

[Pause]

Zone (age 19) stomped the pavement on his way outside the lender’s office, seething. He couldn’t believe their opportunity to move into the larger shop neighboring Gold Leaf Town Square was moments away from being squandered by his sister’s lack of interest in the family business:

[Pause]

“Sign for the keys without me!”

“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”

“Five more hours with my friends. That’s all I want. Zone, Please… let me have this.”

“Fine, fine…”

[Pause]

Zone couldn’t shake the feeling this was going to be a long day.

>* * *

He arrived in Starfall using the waypoint linked to Canopy Gold Leaf. The village elder’s son, Mallon Guard (age 19), watches the fellow demi-human teleport in a fanfare of static and sparks. The youthful seraph was smiling widely when Zone appeared. Shiny crimson hair with matching angelic feathers branching from his shoulders, flowing to his waist. The androgenous demi-human was their village’s hidden gem: feminine curves. Flat, chiseled abs. Elegant contours. Protruding jaw. Soft, resplendent skin. Stunning eyes rivaling cut jewels.

“Oh! Hey Zone,” waving cheerfully. “Show me the keys to your new place!”

“I can’t!” inadvertently raising his voice. “S-Sorry… Have you seen Layka around? I don’t want to waste time checking our old shop if she’s not there.”

“You couldn’t close the deal without her?” filling in the blanks. “Yeah, um… I think she’s studying with the Lore family’s kid.”

“They had kids?”

“Just the one,” Mallon eagerly divulged. “Casid lives with his mom. Haven’t seen her myself. She’s famous for teaching that lost Myridian language in Cloud Fruit. ANYWAY, the judge required Casid to live with Mr.Lore for an entire week every month. Because of the infrequency he’s here, I’m not surprised the two of you never met! Actually… he’s not a minor anymore. So it’s not like he’s required to visit unless he wants to… I’ve only known Casid for three years and -”

“I don’t have time for this!”

“So… this is goodbye… isn’t it?” Casid (age 17) returned the ancient chronicle to its home on the shelf. “I’m going to miss inviting you over whenever my dad’s not around.”

“About that… I’ve been meaning to ask,” fidgeting at the foot of his bed, “Is your dad… racist?”

“I doubt it,” Casid laughed. “We’re the only humans in Starfall after they split! Why would he surround himself with demis if he was?”

“Oh! Right… it’s a shame I never got to learn about the Tapestry from his expert’s point of view… Why are we hiding from him?”

“Because I’m afraid of how hard he’ll beat me for sharing my bed,” Casid blushed, dropping onto the covers backwards with a thump.

“There’s nowhere else to sit!” turning red herself, bouncing in place for emphasis. “You can hardly call this a bedroom.”

“This is a closet.”

“You were raised… in a closet?”

“No! He turned my bedroom into his office because, when I’m in Cloud Fruit, it’s wasting valuable space.”

“He has a point,” Layka giggled.

[Pause]

“You don’t want to pursue alchemy anymore?”

“I would rather explore the cosmos… with you.”

“R-Really? Layka…”

“It’s not fair! I should stay here, with Larx,” Layka slouched, knots churning in her stomach. “I’m not even THAT skilled at alchemy.”

“That’s not true,” Casid smiled. “I think your dad would have been proud of those elixirs you keep brewing me!”

“Thank you,” staring at her own lap. “Those don’t even compare to my dad’s.”

“You’re the smartest weaver I’ve ever met!” Casid blurts. “And I, um… would like to be your student… I’m just a linguist, but, with your guidance, maybe you could teach me how to channel Myridian glyphs!”

Layka turned to face him and grinned. “Visit me in Gold Leaf… promise me you will!”

“I promise!” returning her smile.

Layka pulled Casid close… and they shared their first kiss!

CLICK!

Casid’s “bedroom” door flew open, and the spectator… wasn’t his dad.

“LAYKA!”

[Pause]

>Fall of 4065
>10 Years Later - Present

Miyen (age 25) exits her bedroom to the roar of toppling furniture. Their coat rack, among other baubles, were now on the floor. An older man with half-closed eyes (age 45) holds onto the wall for support, struggling to remain on two feet.

“Uncle,” greeting him warmly. “You’re REALLY late.”

“Ah heh, heh…” murmuring. “I need my chair.”

Miyen clears a path for her guardian and leads him to the den, then she fetches him a glass of much-needed water.

WHUMP!

Collapsing into the leather seat, arms slack, groaning.

“Did the mayor still treat you to lunch?”

“Dinner… actually.” head bobbing. “Our appointment was lengthy. Said we needed hard drinks for what we were discussing next…”

“Must have been important,” phishing for gossip.

“That’s putting it lightly,” opening up. “Mallon, from Starfall village… Mallon’s Canopy needs to go.”

“What?” pacing back and forth. “Why?”

“Supply chains! There just… isn’t enough DAMN cosmite for their hungry tree! So it has to go. Starfall… uses the same amount of myre to protect its two hundred that WE spend on twenty-three-thousand.”

“So it’s… wasteful.”

“Too wasteful! Our mayor’s cutting them off.”

“That would destroy their village.”

“Yeah, so… I advocated for making them citizens of Gold Leaf.”
Miyen thought about her friends.

>Grexia: Casid
>Thread 2

Casid (age 27) enters the third branch of Tails of Grandeur in Canopy Gold Leaf.

“Hello? Layka? Are you there?”

Her golden-antlered brother (age 29) emerges from the curtains concealing their backroom inventory from prying eyes. “Casid?” groaning. “Leave… my sister… alone!”

“Oh! Um… I’m here on behalf of the Weaving Arts Institute of Cloud Fruit. Layka enrolled in a special event I’m hosting, so she’s eligible for a first-edition copy of Volume Seven.”

“I’m her guardian,” Zone scoffs, “and I didn’t authorize that!”
“Pardon?” flummoxed. “Layka's a top-ranking alumni, AND, she’s been an adult for some time… With all due respect, this is Layka’s decision!”

“Casid?!” skipping through an open door.

TSK!

“Humans…” retreating to his office.

>> No.20116584

[Pause]

“Enjoy!” handing Layka (age 26) her order. “I’m hosting a course on its contents next year after funding’s secured. I’m sure you can relate! Diamond Veil sponsors tend to be… joyless,” shrugging with a grin.

“I’m sooo excited for the trip!” Layka bounces in place. “Life on another world? How did you create a Reality Loom? Volume Six hardly covers the process!”

“Are you sure about that?” Casid chuckles.

“Positive! I’m not reading it a fourth time in doubt,” grinning.

He waves farewell. “Looking forward to your thesis!”

Grexia: Layka
Thread 2

“Thanks for covering!” Layka gently clicks shut the front door to Tails of Grandeur. Its eastern locale positioned them partially outside the shade of their massive Canopy. Its distinctive leaves of brown, reflective yellow accents, concealing the entirety of Canopy Gold Leaf Town Square.

Crisp winds chill the air, though not enough to warrant an extra layer covering the short-haired fur the demi-human was born with below the waist. Long sleeves and matching skirt. A satchel with essentials hanging from her shoulder.

A blend of animal, human, and cyclist-drawn wagons pass her by on the red and brown pathways of hand-laid brick. She strolls past small parks, flowering pots, and winding wrought-iron lamps creating magnificent arches above the trodden path.

Layka approaches the cylindrical, hand-etched stone platform in front of her. A mechanical sign indicates the waypoint bridges her town with the city of Canopy Cloud Fruit. Its multicolored traffic bulb flashes bright green, signaling to Layka it was safe. The air around her crackles with the familiar static of arcane summoning technology.

Snap!

[Pause]

The city of Cloud Fruit winds around the steep cliffs of an otherwise uninhabitable Mount Demise.

Layka’s mind wanders as she examines the city’s petrified wooden floor. An unnatural, smooth surface of bleached-white ivory. Zippers glide past her on the slipstream below.

Package couriers and the like. Passenger-ferrying vehicles of every variety. Layka crosses the bridge to the transit station proper.

SHOOM! KSSSSK!

Her zipper-train slides to a complete stop on a pressurized blanket of woven air. Fifty passengers leave; creating vacancy.

[Pause]

A young woman with short lavender hair scampers across from her friend. A petite, cleanly dressed human with plum eyes adorning full institute regalia: a black and gray long-sleeve jacket and matching dress.

“Layka!” cheering loud enough to make nearby passengers glance. “Why aren’t you in uniform?”

>> No.20116595

“Hi Miyen,” waving. “I’m not here for credits.”

“Oh? Of course! I know why you’re here!” sliding off her bundle’s straps and rifling through its contents in search of the relevant handout. Opening it with both hands triumphantly. “Casid Lore is an occult researcher from the small orchard village southeast of Canopy Gold Leaf…”

“That’s the one!” snatching the paper from Miyen’s hand. Wagging her furry brown tail to and fro.

Miyen topples over in a giggling fit.

“Don’t you DARE ruin this for me,” Layka steams.

“You REALLY believe Zone’s gonna let you abandon the trade? He’s not gonna run Tails all by himself.”

“He’s doing that right now. Isn’t he?!” crumpling up their college brochure, weaving fire in the palm of her hands, incinerating the document in a tiny, smoke-less flash!

“You have a spare?” Miyen teased. “‘Twas my only one.”

Layka blushed. “Sorry! I didn’t mean to… I was just -”

Miyen guffaws, revealing the playful nature of her ruse.

Layka smiles, turning to her side. Gazing outside her window at the enormous wall of bleached-white petrified wood ascending the exterior of Mount Demise. To her right: five other lanes of zipper traffic flying beneath the remote college town. Layka wistfully stares at the distant, indistinct plots of land far below Cloud Fruit.

[Pause]

“I didn’t ask for you to become my matchmaker.”

“You never will,” Miyen pouts.

“Is that so bad?”

“It’s a tragedy,” improving their mood. “Casid invited the world to explore his dreamscape fantasy. Imagine the romance!”

“I-I would rather not,” burying her face behind her fingers.

“Come on, Layka. Just ask him out already and tell Zone to get lost! Nobody’s going to be living in Starfall anymore. So, if you persuade him -”

“Hold on! What’s happening to Starfall?”

“N-Nevermind,” recoiling. “Caught my uncle cursing their Canopy’s misfortune after drinking… more than he should… Whoops! Probably just a rumor… Pretend you didn’t hear that from me.”

>> No.20116608

[Pause]

“Now arriving at the Weaving Arts Institute of Cloud Fruit - Campus Three,” the zipper’s pilot informs their busy passengers waiting inside.

SHOOM! KSSSSK!

>* * *

Miyen accompanies Layka in the moderately-sized lecture hall. Three rows of twelve seats. The center and rear rows were slightly elevated to give them sight of the platform, just high enough to peer over heads. Occupied with a diverse blend of humans and demi-humans. A dozen of them were students in uniform, like Miyen. The rest are wearing garbs of today’s choice. Dresses and suits. Simple robes with muted primary colors.

Layka’s attention shifts to the two demi-human identical-twin sisters at the farthest end of the front row, away from the door they entered. Silky short locks; resplendent cerulean. Floppy rabbit ears. Winding feline tails ending in fluffy white cotton puffs.

“What the…” Layka reacts to the third identical-triplet appearing.
“Don’t you know who I am?” The third sister grins. “I’m Fesa Pandeska. Your future baroness!”

“You wish!” the closer of the two siblings in the front row jeers.
Layka juts out her head; mouth ajar.

“You must be Tass,” Miyen snorts; inhaling the water from her canteen in the same breath. The triplets cackle at Miyen struggling to clear her burning lungs.

The closest imitation huffs. “How could you tell?”

“Fesa Pandeska isn’t bubbly,” Miyen coached. “She’s serious, and cunning. You carry yourself like a starlet lusting for attention. Fesa isn’t desperate.”

“I didn’t realize you were SUCH a fan,” throwing shade.

“You wouldn’t pass an audit!”

“YOU would?!”

“Drop it,” Layka hushed.

“Hymph!” Tass twitched her nose, tilting it upwards. Flipping her long tail around like a whip.

[Pause]

The lights dim, cueing everyone to focus. Miyen sets down the canteen she’s been sipping from throughout the day.

“Close your eyes, slacken your limbs, and get comfortable! Listen to the sound of my voice… Empty your mind… focus on my words, and nothing else…”

>> No.20116618

[Pause]

Layka notices her heart dancing! She laments the sudden wave of adrenaline. Wondering if her heightened stress was rendering her incapable of joining Miyen and the others in Casid’s dreamscape.

[Pause]

“Notice the blood-red tint of your eyelids… Observe its saturation fading to black… You can see the colors now… even in complete darkness… Good… Notice its vortex swirl… A prismatic sea of soothing oils… Feel its warmth envelop you…”

[Pause]

SWOOSH!

FSSSSSH!

SWAASH!

[Pause]

Layka blinks her eyes open; dazed. Casid stood on a platform of packed sand. A massive horizon-spanning ocean of deep blues in his wake. Their rows of mass-produced chairs became aisles of verdant logs on the beach. The crowd rose from their seats in awe, staring at their tropical, alien surroundings full of wonder.

“I acknowledge this is… unexpected,” Casid jest. He’s wearing a colorful button-up shirt with red and white flowers, brown open-toed sandals, and shorts.

“Is this… real?” breaking the silence.

Casid bows. “Welcome… to one of my favorite places to unwind!”

>* * *

“The lecture will continue on Grexia for those wishing to further their research. Please enjoy my home to the fullest! Your bodies on Grexia are safe. Damage to my property can be reversed without consequence. You are now dismissed until our shared experience concludes. Party, feast, relax, and have fun!”

The crowd hollered, split into their friend groups, and parted ways. By now, all of them had noticed the clothes they adorned were not the garbs they wore to campus. One of them dove into the sea, splashing up to their waist in crystal-clear waters.

“Aah, it’s warm!” she laughed.

Layka spectates half of the crowd ascending the slope to the grass above where Casid’s multi-story home overlooks the beach on one side, an imposing cliff on the other. The only structure on their not-so-deserted island, in fact.

[Pause]

Miyen steps away from Layka to play with the Fesa look-alikes in the sand, which surprised Layka, considering Miyen’s argument with Tass when the three of them arrived.

Casid relaxed on his platform, back to the island, admiring the ocean waves. Layka listened to him slow his breathing, deeply inhaling the ionically-charged breeze. She tentatively approached his side, heart beats surging with every step. “N-Never seen an ocean in person before,” making sure her presence was known.

Casid turns to face her and smiles.

“Your first? Thank you for leaving me that honor!”

“My… first?” turning bright red; hyperactively fidgeting in place.
“Ocean!” nervously laughing with her at his lapse of judgment.

[Pause]

“This spell is incredible,” Layka beamed. “You’re a natural.”

“Thanks! I had a very talented coach,” he winked, “attractive too.”
Layka bashfully shoved his arm, making light of his advance.

She thought about her brother, Zone.

“Casid… about your visit.”

“Yes?”

“Please excuse his behavior.”

“Done!”

“His prejudice was uncalled for! I’m… actually quite fond of humans.”

“Oh? That’s a relief.”

“No! Please don’t think of us that way.”

[Pause]

“Hm… would you reconsider?” flashing her his widest grin.

[Pause]

Layka grabbed his hand, prompting a soft squealing noise from Miyen somewhere behind them on the beach.

Casid and Layka turned around.

Miyen lurched in the other direction a moment too late, failing to conceal her obsessive surveillance. She returns to helping the Fesa replicas, who were busy constructing a massive sand castle with a blend of water and earth weaving.

“Are the three of them related?” Layka’s mind wanders.

“They’re NOT related to the Pandeska family, if that’s what you mean.”

“Really? How come?”

“They’re contractors working for a business that specializes in celebrity doubles. It’s called an Alias, and its purpose is to make it seem like the celebrity client is everywhere at once! Their contractors get to resemble the celebrity, in addition to being paid for their time.”

“Then… seeing three of them in one place defeats the purpose.”
“Pretty much!”

“Was Miyen a contractor too?”

“Not sure,” the linguist confessed. “Miyen doesn’t like talking about her past, so I avoid pressing the topic.”

“I… wasn’t aware that the two of you spoke.”

“It’s a funny story,” Casid laughed, “Did you know Miyen’s one of my sponsors from Diamond Veil? Loves to gossip, obsessed with the intimate details of everyone in her circle. She also mentioned… that kiss.”

“EEEP!” Layka cringed.

“Wish it could have been our secret,” chuckling. “Oh well.”

“How did Miyen become your sponsor? This is the first I’ve heard about her ties to Diamond Veil... Can she even afford it? I’ve been to her apartment in Gold Leaf.”

“You have? Huh… that’s weird.”

“For YEARS, Casid!” Layka frowned. “Are you certain it’s her?”

“Of course! Miyen was the one who talked me into hosting this event. Somehow knew you would find an excuse to ditch Zone… She really values your friendship, Layka. I don’t fully grasp the forces at work here.”

Miyen glanced over her shoulder, gossip-senses tingling, as if Miyen had the supernatural ability to detect when people were mentioning her name. She decides to confront her oblivious cohorts; ecstatic.

“Isn’t it taboo to be flirting with your students?” Miyen swung. “I could have you both reported to the dean!”

Casid appears legitimately concerned.

Was his dreamscape a trap?!

[Pause]

“She’s joking,” Layka grinned. “What do you want?”

Miyen turned smug. “Talking about friends behind their back is uncouth.”

Casid nods.

“I KNEW IT!” Miyen roared; relishing the vindication.

“Are you enjoying your time in my dreamscape?” he asked.

“It’s awesome! Just a few questions… while I have your attention.”
Layka felt abnormally defensive of him, but chose to remain silent.
“Can we feel pain in your dreamscape?”

“No? I would be surprised if you could.”

“Great! And uh… how long have we been asleep?”

“Hm… a few hours?”

Miyen’s tone became hostile. “Specifically, Casid!”

“J-Just over three hours… Sorry, are you okay?”

[Pause]

Miyen turned around and fled.

“Woah… hey girl! Where you goin’?” Tass quipped, equally confused.

[Pause]

Layka jumped forward, spun around to look Casid in the eyes, and spastically waved farewell. “I need to know.”

“Of course,” Casid nods. “Remember our promise!”

“You… want to stop by and visit?”

“Yes, and then take you out on multiple dates! You wanted to travel the cosmos with me. We’ll find a way.”

Layka garbled incoherently in response, finally sinking-in that their relationship status had changed. Sprinting up the hill after her friend with renewed excitement, losing one of her sandals in the process, kicking off the other to gain speed.

>> No.20116638

Miyen hesitated on the opposite end of the island in Casid’s front yard, peering down the steep cliff hundreds of feet above sea level. Razor-sharp lances of blood-red coral at its base. Was a fall from this height dangerous enough to kill? This was a dream! Miyen reminded herself. She wasn’t in any real danger, and yet…

[Pause]

“WAIT” Layka screamed. “Don’t -”

Miyen looked over her shoulder, noticed Layka… and jumped!

[Pause]

Layka mindlessly accompanied her friend. “AAAAGH!” regretting her choice as the aquatic blades rushed towards her face.

>* * *

Layka jolted from slumber, unharmed! She’s back in the lecture hall of Campus Three. The sound of deep breathing and snoring reverberates off the walls. Layka noticed Casid slumped in his chair on the stage, mouth drooling, ajar, and quietly giggled. Turning to face Miyen at her side.

The two of them locked eyes.

[Pause]

Miyen… had a long pair of rabbit ears matching the lavender hues of her hair, and a slim fluffy tail identical to that of the Fesa aliases.

Layka opened her eyes even wider… and gasped!

Miyen hastily downed the fluids in her canteen.

Layka blinked.

Her demi-human features were gone.

>* * *

“You’re early…” Miyen’s uncle grumbled, “could have walked in on me satisfying the desires of maidens!”

“Gross,” Miyen giggled. “Layka’s here too.”

“Hello,” Layka bowed respectfully.

“An unexpected surprise… Come on in! You’re always welcome in our home. Except when you aren’t,” laughing at his own joke.

[Pause]

Miyen frowned. “Is this a good time… to see Dad?”

“What’s wrong?” feeling the shift.

“Layka’s ready to know.”

[Pause]

Silence.

[Pause]

“It finally happened…”

>> No.20116648

Layka watched him lock the front door to their Gold Leaf apartment, then the three of them continued their trip. Miyen’s hood was drawn, concealing most of her features.

They enter a large waypoint together and vanish.

Snap!

[Pause]

Appearing near a stable in the neighboring countryside. The human groundskeeper recognizes them, bows reverently, and guides them to their pen. Opening the barn doors, a lavish stagecoach large enough to seat four is waiting for them inside, along with its two reptilian steeds: friendly lizards with affectionate eyes.

“Meep!” the nearest companion greets.

The other flickered its tongue and smiled.

“Zig! Zag!” Miyen dotes, patting their heads.

Her uncle opens the closest door. “Enjoy the ride! The boys will get us there quickly with ease.”

“Meep!”

>* * *

Plip plop! Plip plop! Plip plop!

[Pause]

Layka peered out her window at rolling hills, then back at her friend across from her in the stagecoach. The groundskeeper didn’t join them, much to Layka’s surprise. Miyen’s uncle was sitting outside guiding Zig and Zag with the reins, enjoying the scenic beauty and peace. Perhaps… to give them both privacy, she thought.
“I’m ready to chat,” smiling beneath her veil. “Go ahead.”

“It’s a human disguise.”

Miyen removed her hood with zealous fanfare, stretching the long ears Layka KNEW she was hiding! Miyen squirmed, allowing her tail to unfurl from where she folded it beneath her cloak.

“You could have told me. You know…”

“The politics are… complicated,” Miyen sighs. “Any guesses how?”

[Pause]

Layka gave this some thought.

[Pause]

“The canteen changes your appearance.”

“Close! Whoever drinks from the canteen, regardless of what’s inside, becomes enchanted for a short duration based on their metabolism. The effects last around two hours for me… that’s why I needed to wake up before everyone else! You weren’t supposed to jump after me; that was HIGHLY unfortunate.”

“You appear human, but your body doesn’t change? Then… it only affects targets observing the drinker!”

“HOW are you this smart?!” Miyen praised.

[Pause]

Layka blushed. “I-It’s okay to be demi.”

Miyen returned her smile.

>> No.20116654

Their stagecoach came to a complete stop. Miyen’s uncle opens the door, ushering them outside. The three of them arrived in the front courtyard of an unbelievably posh mansion - the likes of which Layka has never seen!

“Do you recognize the building?” her uncle checked.

“Not specifically, but… somehow… THIS is your home as well. Which… I still find hard to believe… No, you’re the relatives of somebody powerful. The party sponsoring Casid’s research.”

“Hm… she’s good!”

[Pause]

A human with fine clothes (age 49) was waiting to greet them in the lobby. He looked at Layka, then Miyen, then her uncle and sighed.
“Fesa owes me time off…”

“Why would Fesa owe YOU anything?” Layka jovially retorts.

“Think about it,” Miyen grinned.

[Pause]

“...”

[Pause]

“THIS IS PANDESKA ESTATE!”

“Bwah hah hah!” guffawing like his niece.

“T-Then you’re…”

“Miyen Pandeska.”

“Her half uncle, technically! Teslohan Pandeska.”

“Zodip Grim: Head of Service.”

[Pause]

Layka painfully realized why Miyen only called him Uncle and Tes, loudly slapping her palms against her forehead. Completely exacerbated. How did she miss such obvious clues? There were so many situations like it!

“Remember her comment, on campus?” Miyen urged.

“From… Tass, was it?”

“Fesa’s going to become the baroness. She’s next in line to rule.”
“You’re Fesa’s little sister… Which means… you’re an heiress too!”
“Tah dah!” Miyen spun around playfully. Waving her arms. Flapping her ears. Shaking her tail in a silly dance.

[Pause]

Miyen was second in line to rule.

>> No.20116670

Zodip guides them from the dining room into one of their many halls. A thousand people could live here! Layka thought.

“Thank you,” she bowed. “It was an honor meeting our lord.”

“Dad?” Miyen giggled. “Don’t prop him up like that! Dalliser loathed gaining status, that’s why he spends more time with Fesa than me. To train her, of course. He wanted to retire the day after he ascended. It’s true!”

“I’m impressed.”

“Lucky for him, leading the family was Fesa’s dream! No idea why, honestly. I can’t abide politics… Why can’t everyone just get along?”

Layka admired her outlook.

>* * *

Layka didn’t want to leave the study. Rare first-edition books on every shelf. A few of them: the only copies in existence, meticulously inked by hand! She was salivating at the thought of reading everything in this room, then felt a twang of guilt at being unable to share the experience with Casid, who’s reactions would have been similar.

Miyen reclines on the sleek, padded recliner. Feet in the air, wiggling her toes. Zodip returns with a tray of after-dinner pastries and sweets on a silver platter, which the heiress gladly accepts. Zodip bowed, then, just as swiftly as he arrived, left the two demis alone.

[Pause]

“I love both of my forms,” Miyen confessed. “Prejudice has nothing to do with it… Since you know who I am, you can appreciate why I went to such lengths to keep my identity a secret! I tried REALLY hard to stay out of the public eye, and make sure Fesa received all of the attention and praise… All I wanted was -”

“An ordinary life.”

Miyen nods.

“But… your uncle Tes doesn’t use a disguise.”

“He’s not politically relevant, I suppose.”

“Huh?”

“The two of us aren’t even related by blood. He had the right to rule before Dalliser, Fesa, and I were born. But Dalliser has Pandeska blood, so… even though Uncle Teslohan’s older than him, our family’s laws required Dalliser to ascend.”

“You would think merit’s more important than blood,” Layka smirked.

“I know, right?! Who cares about traditions if they’re bad!” kicking her feet, nearly knocking over her recliner and toppling out of it.

>> No.20116679

Layka giggled… paused… received a horrific insight… stumbled, then broke down; sobbing.

Miyen jumped out of her chair, “W-What’s wrong?”

[Pause]

“Help us,” Layka choked. “Everyone’s struggling in Gold Leaf.”

“Y-Yes, and -”

“Except you! Pretending to suffer alongside us… even though you ALWAYS had enough influence to help!”

Miyen was trembling too. She’s never seen Layka this angry before.
“How did you -”

“Cosmite and talent… Remember your comment on our way here? W-When you mentioned Starfall…”

“It’s not -”

“You have enough talent to help!”

“B-But, it’s not the right thing to do…”

“Yes it is!” Layka screamed. “Yes it is… please!”

[Pause]

Zodip intervened; opening the door.

Layka returns to his side.

“I’ll keep your identity a secret,” sniffling.

[Pause]

“Layka…”

[Pause]

“I don’t think… we should be friends… anymore!”

Hey /lit/. That's the end of part 1. I'm past my bedtime so I don't actually have time to chat, like I planned. Here's some irrelevant concept art for Miyen, even though she's not a seraph in this particular story. I hope you are more excited to see me in my next random thread for book 2, when it's ready. It's even longer than this one, so maybe I'll share a torrent file next time. : )

A technologically primitive (and advanced) fantasy world home to many humans, and a mutant demi-human race with incredible quirks. The bashful half-goat Layka pursues her human love-interest with the secret help of her enthusiastic friend; incurring the wrath of her human-loathing brother. Meanwhile: politicians debate the ethical consequences of restricting access to their limited Myre Supply Chain in favor of serving the many, not the few. Will Grexians choose tradition, rather than skill? What is the Cosmic Tapestry of Astral Strings, and do other worlds inhabit it? Could immersive, life-like dreams be the key? Explore these quandaries and more, in Vol.1 - Part 1 of 5: Epiphany!

>Price Transparency

My books are more expensive per-word compared to similar Light Novels on this platform. Future stories I release may be priced higher than this one, because the price I choose is derived from the word count.

Amazon is providing me anywhere between 30% to 70% of these products’ retail price as royalties, before regional taxes and shipping fees (excluding the state and federal business taxes I'm obligated to pay afterwards). Even eBooks have shipping fees based on their file size! Amazon doesn't pay a cent of it.

With high taxes, debt, student loans, medical bills, inflationary debasing of the U.S. Dollar, and a high cost of living: I deeply appreciate every cent of your purchase! I’m confident you will continue receiving your money’s worth.

Every book purchased brings me one step closer to becoming a full-time producer of content for Myrefly.

Thank you for your support!

>Future Releases

The four remaining stories making up Volume 1 are expected to release throughout this year (2022) as soon as they are of high-enough quality to publish.

>Volume 1 (Target: 2022)

1/5: Book 1 - Epiphany
2/5: Book 2 - Occult
3/5: Book 3 - Contraband
4/5: Book 4 - Guardian
5/5: Book 5 - Fantasy

>Volume 2 (Target: 2023)

1/3: Book 6 - Grandeur
2/3: Book 7 - Prune
3/3: Book 8 - Cascade

My current objective is to annually publish around 50,000 words per Volume (across all of their individual stories). This is what I’m capable of working into my busy schedule: 40+ hours a week of which are currently occupied by the office job paying my bills.

I liked this story a lot and I'm looking forward to book 2. Comments below.

[1] You start in the past and move towards the present avoiding flashbacks. I hated cheap flashbacks in God of Highschool and your method fixes that. Easy to follow.

[2] There is a large cast of characters and you're focusing on all of them. I like this idea of there not being a main character. Makes the world you're building feel bigger and lived in. Wasn't expecting this story to focus on Miyen. Too early to know if Layka is overreacting. Maybe Starfall SHOULD wilt. It would be nice if their friendship gets salvaged, they have nice chemistry.

[3] Zone is racist, but his father Tonari is the bigger racist. Zone was an impressionable kid who wants to become just like his dad. I appreciate you didn't vilify either of them. Zone did nothing wrong, protecting his sister from potential creeps. Reasonable behavior for a brother.

>>20116687
[4] Characters aren't always the same person they are in a given book, so I'm going to guess in the dark here and say this version of Miyen is Miyen from another Thread? I wonder which one? Not Thread 2, because that Miyen is a bunny girl masquerading as a human.

[5] Wait, does that mean characters from one Thread, who are protagonists, could be antagonists if they're from another Thread? If you're writing this from a multiverse angle, there's a lot of potential here with the characters you're establishing.

>>20116461
>a legacy of isekai-loving weebs
[6] I'm assuming travel between the Threads is going to be a focal point eventually. Casid mentioned the Tapestry, Layka mentioned wanting to explore the cosmos with him. So this is your isekai angle, eh? I'm guessing the isekai protagonist hasn't been revealed yet (It's probably Casid and/or Layka by the looks of it), but it was hinted at because this whole story takes place in Thread 2. Logically, there must be a Thread 1. Otherwise you would have referred to this as Thread 1, but opted for Thread 2. I like what you implied here without explaining it outright.

[7] Weaving is your magic system on this world, by the sound of it. The way you use weaving as a verb reminds me of element bending with ATLA.

[8] Cosmic Tapestry of Astral Strings. Heh, this is a play on String Theory, isn't it? That would make the Tapestry your multiverse, and each Thread is a universe within it, probably.

[9] Miyen is hyperactive and annoying, but I kind of like her. The design also looks like a blatant copy of Mako from Kill La Kill and I'm okay with this! Tell me she's not inspired by her. You know I'm right. Then again, I love pretty much every one of studio Trigger's works, so maybe that's why Myrefly gels with me. Feels like more of the same.

I love obsessing of writing, world building, and lore. You gonna start a blog or something? I guess I could keep looking for you on the boards. Keep it up, man!

Seems about right! The art style for both of these are clean, though. I'm a sucker for lineless vector art.

Hey Jack. I have some more comments, feel free to answer them when you're back online.

[10] So, Canopies are these giant trees, and there's more than one of these. Exposition mentions that they protect them from certain doom, according to legend, but there's no evidence of this (yet?). Everyone's stressed out about the availability of cosmite, which I suppose these Canopies are drawing nutrients / mana from? These are bigass magical trees, right? I'm starting to wonder if these things wilting could be a nothingburger. Multiple discussions with Miyen and her uncle imply this is a squabble about tradition, mirroring the ruling family's own politics.

[11] Teslohan is maidenless (no orgy).

[12] Kind of curious what these Elixirs of Epiphany actually do. Is it brief super intelligence? Heightened focus, like those drugs in the Fallout series? Guessing they're magical in nature. Rare ingredients to make it, based on how Tonari flipped out about their shifting price. Since Pandeska family has been drinking them for some time, multiple generations, then doesn't that make the Craft / Epiphany family responsible for some of the ruling class' accomplishments? Maybe that makes Miyen obligated to take advice from Layka.

[13] I like the attention to detail describing Layka's cute mannerisms. She's a character that wears her emotions on her sleeve, zero poker face. Having Miyen tease her was fun.

[14]
>"It's okay to be demi."
Hehe.

[15] When do we get official art of our giant speedy lizard boys? Show me THE BOYS. I need Teslohan artwork ASAP featuring "Me and THE BOYS."

[16] Is Adalace a bunny girl too, or just Dalliser? You mentioned Teslohan originally had the right to rule, until his brother Dall was born. Tes doesn't have Pandeska blood, and I'm assuming the Pandeska family are all beast people like Fesa, Miyen, and Dalliser?

[17] Also, what's the deal with the demi / beast people having a human servant? Are humans the slave class on this world, they seemed to be even split when they were in that college lecture hall. I may be looking into this too deeply, but I'm guessing the prejudice between their groups varies from Canopy to Canopy. Casid mentioned him and his dad were the only humans in Starfall. Maybe the relations between humans and demis are better in Cloud Fruit?

[18] Teslohan mentioned speaking with Gold Leaf's mayor to discuss politics, and this implies Tes has some of kind of political influence. However, Miyen was downplaying the fact her uncle was politically relevant. Is this contradiction a plot hole, or Miyen's misunderstanding?

[1] Thanks, my prereader friends gave me shit about this. I'm still questioning that decision.

[2] There's a lot of characters and you'll see many different sides of them in the future.

[3] Zone is racist. Should he be less racist? I think he would be happier. There's some bad humans, there's bad demi-humans too.

[4] Thread 1 focuses on an Earth-like world called Kypal. Looking forward to showing off more of it in the future.

[5] Spot on.

[6] Yes! The Reality Loom is the plot device that makes this possible. Though, the Reality Loom takes on a multitude of different forms depending on the world it's being created in. Sometimes it's magic. Sometimes it's advanced machinery. Sometimes it's a world simulation operating system.

[7] Huh, I guess it's similar in some ways. The magic system is actually language heavy, focusing on the Myridian glyphs Casid mentioned. There's importance in those symbols. Sometimes verbalized, sometimes imagined.

[8] My take on String Theory. Also, Wheel of Time, because I'm not above adapting a good literary idea (all great artists steal, hence this piracy thread).

[9] FUCK, it's that obvious? :D Well, I love Mako, so we have that in common. Consider Miyen my tribute to her archetype. I suppose she's multiple tropes at this point.

[16] Adalace is a bunny girl, though she could have NOT been one and their kids could have still inherited the bunny genes because of... demihuman genetics. The genes could be passed down from Dall even if Adalace was human.

[17] It varies on a per-Canopy basis, like you said. Comparing Grexia to the USA. The Canopies are like state governments, where Pandeska represents he federal government. They still answer to Pandeska on most things, but sometimes the local state laws take precedence.

[18] Uh... whichever choice makes me appear to be a skilled author! No plot holes here... nope! Miyen isn't a politician, by her own admission. She wasn't aware of her uncle's importance. To be fair, most of their other patrons didn't either. There's a class issue on Grexia.

It's been fun, /lit/. See you folks in the morning. If the thread dies, you'll hear from me again when it's time to roast book 2. I'll probably go with a .torrent file next time of the PDF, because posting the plain text and solving the captcha a dozen times isn't my cup of tea.

To the handful of you who cared enough to leave nice comments: Thank you. You're the people who make these threads worth my time. I don't have a community and still want to appreciate one here. You are my favorite Anons!

You're right. Originally, I had this all setup in a cleanly formatted PDF file. Enter Amazon. When I uploaded the PDF, they acted like retards and botched the formatting intentionally, insisting I had to use their shitty Amazon-brand software for ebooks. So, to make it easier to export, I removed ALL formatting from the manuscript, then manually imported it into their ebook software. You know... there IS a version of my book online that has great formatting.

I'll consider making a .torrent post for my collection when book 2 is published. I have to reformat everything to make it work.

Book 1 (Vol 1, Part 1 of 5) takes place on a fantasy world called Grexia. Some parts of it are primitive, others technologically advanced. There are humans and demi-human beast people on this world with varying relationships. Some regions tolerate each other, others face sharp discrimination. Grexia is a world home to dozens of skyscraper-sized trees, called Canopies. It's believed these giant plants are protecting them from certain doom, but as centuries pass, most consider these claims unfounded legends.

Grexia is facing an energy crisis, and their Pandeska family rulers are deciding which regions to sacrifice. The village of Canopy Starfall, home to a few hundred people, is using the same energy as Canopy Gold Leaf, a town dozens of times larger than it. Their politicians debate the ethical dilemma on if it's more important to favor the many over the few.

Layka Epiphany, the titular demi-human faun, is in love with a human linguist named Casid. Layka doesn't want to run her family business long-term, she would rather unravel the secrets of the universe with Casid. However, this would force her brother to run the shop on his own, and she risks being exiled from her family. Her brother hates humans, further complicating her relationship with Casid.

Jack, what sort of literature do you read? Are you a fan of Proust, perchance?
