From should just make Otogi 3. Classical Heian Japanese and Tang/Song Chinese aesthetics are better than Western IE epics. That's because they have a more colorful and vitalistic feel, which Otogi 2 beautifully captured. Modern Chinese are too automaton like to even capture this aesthetic.
Closest to this ancient Indian, which could work too.
I'm tired of Western cultural aesthetics.
