They're the actual written notes of a distinguished and intelligent German judge who goes schizo^2 and descends into mad theories that every person is part of a connected series of nerves that collectively comprise God along with other crazy beliefs. He believes it's his duty to save God's universe. He thinks he must commit soul murder and, just when you think he cannot reach higher levels of madness, imagines himself as a tranny. I've only read Freud's book about it. What's eerie is Schreber writes in a very lucid manner throughout the entire book, befitting his status as an accomplished judge. He's psychotic, but just as intelligent.
