What am I in for? Picked this out at the used bookstore today.

It's probably his weakest book (I've read everything but Bleeding Edge, gonna read that soon) but it is not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. The beginning is pretty solid but the middle gets kind of silly once he starts talking about ninjas.

It’s the first Pyncon book I’ll read. A friend had already recommended it to me and I noticed you guys like him. Came across it at the bookstore and figured I’d give him a shot.

I enjoyed it and consider it to be a quite good novel. I consider it best of his shorter works.

Pop culture is just catching up to Gravity's Rainbow

The very beginning is cool, Zoyd being a stoned hippie slacker and all. Then you get this ninja-chick-floozy-with-an-uzi section, which, for me, was a lull. The part in Japan(was it?) was pretty cool. It is a light read, sometimes funny, in an adolescent way.

Pynchon worst novel which is why I never read it

>> No.20092880

It's probably my favorite Pynchon book after Inherent Vice, read it not too long ago and loved it immensely (middle part is a bit lackluster though)

It is considerably better than lot 49, by all measures.

your loss bro, the book is pretty great

Everyone knows any author's worst novel basically doesn't exist. So actaully his worst novel that you might realistically read is his second worst. So that's the one you really shouldn't read.
