How did this become the most influential book to ever come out of 4chan? Is it actually that good? What about all of the other F Gardner books?

>> No.20077313

It's not influential. We only know about it because he advertised here, it has nothing to do with any '4chan themes' and people just pretend it's influential as a joke.

I haven’t read them but I remember one of the threads saying Hiro and Waldun were in one of them. That’s pretty 4chan themed obviously.

It's on libgen along with one other of his books, go ahead take a look for free. It appears to be written by a child or mentally challenged person.

I'm not convinced anyone here has read them.

Of course, just not that one. It's really not worth touching.

Curious, what are the ones worth reading?
Apparently Waldun is pretentious shit too.

Call of the Arcade is really good. Better than Croc.

I've read The Ego and It's Own and A Confederacy of Dunces, off the top of my head. Both good.

The gardnerbooks are worth reading simply because of the weird twists. Which is probably the entire appeal of them. If Call of the Crocodile didn’t have the mindfuck ending then it wouldn’t be memed as much.

I really don't pay attention to that. Couldn't even name any other than F. Gardner.

Call of F Gardner was pretty fun in a bad way, but the humor typically runs thin after about five pages and then it becomes boring.

I bought the last copy of People Mover off of Amazon. It was hands-down the worst book I've ever paid money for. Glaring grammatical errors, poor description, idiotic character motivation. The author seems to believe that if you point a gun at someone once, they are obliged to obey your will indefinitely.

>> No.20082013

Anyone got a link to the book? I don't feel like wasting money on it.

Elaborate, if you would be so kind.

I don't have my copy handy, but from what I recall, there are several scenes in the story where the little girl threatens someone with a gun, and no one ever doubts that she would be willing to pull the trigger. Sometimes, they continue to obey her instructions even when she is out of sight. I believe at least one character goes along with her out of sympathy, but most of them come across as legitimately scared.
