The Book of Lies by Aleister Crowley has the same structure. In terms of content, I recommend Lord Chesterfield's letters to his bastard son, there are a number of different editions with the same sort of realist practical advice.

Can you get me an excerpt from that book that you liked a lot? I want to read Gracián and I would like to know how good he is (and my native language is Spanish btw).

COMO AUTISTA, ESA OBRA CAMBIÓ MI VIDA; AHORA ME MUEVO EN EL MUNDO, EN VEZ DE EL MUNDO MOVERME A MÍ.

The book is a collection of 300 aphorisms on how to succeed in a cut throat world while still being a (relatively) moral and virtuous person. Gracian is essentially a Christian Machiavelli. It's heavily inspired by the Stoics. I've noticed some similarities with Montaigne, but I've done a little bit of research and there doesn't seem to be much out there about this connection. There wasn't a single aphorism I didn't at least partially agree with and find useful, so it's hard to pick. However, here's one of my absolute favorites. I tend to prefer the ones about self cultivation and self sufficiency.

>Aphorism 65, Elevated Taste: You can cultivate it, as you can the intellect. Full understanding whets the appetite and desire, and, later, sharpens the enjoyment of possession. You can judge the height of someone's talent by what he aspires to. Only a great thing can satisfy a great talent. Large bites are for large palates, lofty matters for lofty characters. Even the greatest excellences tremble before the person of refined taste, and the most perfect lose their confidence. Few things have perfection of the first magnitude : let your appreciation be sparing. Taste is acquired through contact with others. You make it your own through continual exercise. You are lucky if you can associate with someone with perfectly developed taste. But don't profess to be satisfied with nothing; it is a foolish extreme, more odious if from affectation than if from character. Some wish God had created another world and other perfections just to satisfy their own extravagant imagination.
