20063040 No.20063040 [Reply] [Original]

If Christ 'descended into hell' for three days after his crucifixion, then why did he tell the criminal executed beside him that he would be 'with him in paradise' on that very day?

Spacetime applies only in this world; temporality in Heaven and Hell works completely differently if it even exists

Because Hell is Paradise for the Christian, and in Heaven you get to meet all of your favorite Biblical characters again, starring Barabbas.

I am a Christian, but noticed this inconsistency. One of very few throughout the entirety of the NT, I may add.

How is it an inconsistency if the trinity is a thing?
I swear, lunar scriptural obsession is the end of religion, I wanna go back in time and strangle Abraham w his own intestines.

did christ go to hell because he was starting to become poltiical?

It actually makes less sense if the canon (non-Arian) Trinity is a thing. It means God's essence was intermingled with its opposite by entering hell.

there are many different ways you could explain this, but my first advice would be not to overthink, and also ask a Priest.

1st you should not mix our perception and understanding of time with that of God. Scripture is intended for the Church to interpret and follow Thy will, not for us to try and reverse engineer Heaven out of reading it. It will never be enough.

2nd Christ is God, when Jesus died it was just the mortal body that died, the Trinity explains this quite well, while the 2nd person might have descended to hell, the criminal could be with God regardless.

Thats because most sects of the Christian church are retarded and not really even based on their own book that strongly.

Hell is the English word for Hades.

>> No.20064985

Jesus descended into Hades, into Abraham's Bosom, the "nice" part of Hades. The thief probably went there too. "Hell" as conceived today in English = the Lake of Fire, but Hades is different. This linguistic confusion is precisely why the Church was so against translating the Bible.

"[8] But of this one thing be not ignorant, my beloved, that one day with the Lord is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. [9] The Lord delayeth not his promise, as some imagine, but dealeth patiently for your sake, not willing that any should perish, but that all should return to penance." - 2 Peter 3:8-9
