Iambs are meters or ways to write poems in that involved stresses and unstressed syllables. Changing how they sound when spoken.
In English theres a certain intonation and stress on syllables we put.

For example we dont say "there-IN" we say "THERE-in." The first syllable is stressed followed by an unstressed syllable.

It exists in all poetry and each language has their own form.

Sonnets utilize iambic pentameter means you need to have at least 5 stressed syllables in a line.

That's my explanation I guess. It's difficult to get down if you aren't accustomed to it and you can forget it if you're ESL.

Actually we say "There-IN" not "THERE-in". Say it aloud.

Germanic prosody > Mediterranean prosody

Urwissend stachest du einst
der Sorge Stachel in Wotans wagendes Herz:
mit Furcht vor schmachvoll feindlichem Ende
füllt’ ihn dein Wissen,
daß Bangen band seinen Muth.
Bist du der Welt weisestes Weib,
sage mir nun: wie besiegt die Sorge der Gott?

It really isn't. There are some nice pieces in IT, for sure:

I WANDERED LONELY AS A CLOUD
by William Wordsworth

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

But that extra foot gives you so much more room for manouever. There are, I would guess, at least fifty good pieces in IP for every one in IT.

shame he wasted his dope rhyme skills on this postcard-tier cringe about muh pretty hills
also clouds aren't lonely, they're constantly coming into contact with other clouds.
