I like that the story is not something to be taken at face value, but asks to be interpreted and for the reader to theorise along to get the full experience.

Generaly very alike the game, but Solaris by Lem came to mind. Some moments are kinda horror on the novel, but barely no violence comparing to DS. It also has a love conflict with an alien species. If you'd like a more philosophical perspective of what is being a living species, this will be a good take.

It's a David-Lynch-inspired videogame that discusses the occult (tulpas, freemason imagery, Lilith imagery) and philosophy (the 'self', consciousness). A lot of supernatural stuff happens. A student, Tanya Kennedy, goes missing and the main character, William, goes through the aftermath of what that entails. He manipulates dialogue by changing his expressions but it's revealed that he is being controlled by a demon, which is linked to a cult It's actually quite interesting

my first association was ASoIaF - if you can make your peace with reading a series cursed to remain forever unfinished. it's an incredibly well executed grand-scale political puzzle of a narrative, and thinking along as events unfold and being able to predict developments based on staying on top of the entanglements, the motivations and limited perspectives of the different factions, etc., is incredibly rewarding.
