The conflict in this book was meaningless since dying in the afterlife just sent you to another afterlife. I always mostly felt sorry for their mother who lost both her children in a horrible manner.

I agree. I read this during a manic-depressive episode and nearly lost my damn mind. Definitely is more a book for adults trying to convince them how to be child-like again. Not necessarily a bad thing but I had a bad time reading it.

There is no afterlife. Jonathan died at the start and the whole thing is just the feverish dream of the younger brother who's in the final stages of tuberculosis.

Little Prince
The story has lots of different morals, but an overall theme is the important traits that children have and relationships/love.
Several chapters are basically parables, the main character goes to several different planets and meets a person who represents some stupid trait that adults have.
