19948426 No.19948426 [Reply] [Original]

Thoughts?
I find her development and perception of the Apollynian and Dionysian concept very interesting, I find that she brushes away the influence of Christianity and is too much influenced by Sade for me to fully agree with but a very interesting book

>>19948426
I plan on reading it soon because I listen to the red scare podcast and Anna and Dasha reference it a lot

i want to fuck them both so bad it's unreal

paglia is such an eyeroll worthy midwit along the lines of jordan peterson, why do people take this stank pseud seriously

>> No.19948649

Because there are no other contemporary writers who understand sexuality as well as her; not any that I know of, at least

>> No.19948654

>>19948644
Who is worth reading then? About these subjects too

Garbage
>I find her development and perception of the Apollynian and Dionysian concept very interesting,
That's because you're a pseud.
>I find that she brushes away the influence of Christianity and is too much influenced by Sade for me to fully agree with but a very interesting book

We just meme her for bait quotes. Don't blame us that newfags actually fall for the meme and read her books

>>19948666
No, I find sexuality and archetypes really interesting

Maybe I'm just a midwit as suggested but my view of the worlds tends toward this viewpoint and as disagreeable as I find her, Paglia's work has helped me understand this better

well that's really gay and stupid but you are probably a woman, enjoy your star signs

Guess you could say I'm a very feminine and Dionysian man, whoa crazy, almost like your describing me with a sexual archetype anon

I think writing off an important part of the human experience as “stupid shit” is retarded

Just read Open Me Carefully: Emily Dickinson's Intimate Letters to Susan Huntington Dickinson.
I never saw anything sexual in Emily Dickinson's letters to Susan Dickinson. She treated her more like a bosom friend.

Only semi coherent and often unintentially funny. Once I'm on my PC at home I will greentext some epick moments like the schizo rant she did about Egyptian culture and the nature of cats

Is there a bigger meme than muh apollonian/dionysan dichotomy? It’s so obviously wrong that even Nietzsche, the philosopher who popularized the concept, distanced himself from it in his later works.

>> No.19949701

>>19949564
Why is it a meme and obviously wrong? I can understand the framework doesn't work well on an individual level just as Freud might not but across society and history I think it's definitely possible to trace this aesthetic binary

>> No.19949737

From what I understand she has no actual connection to the feminist movement so I don't understand the point of reading it

>> No.19949750

>>19949737
Get a perspective from someone outside the “movement.” Who cares if an author isn’t part of a self-congratulating circle jerk?

Because it's a waste of time
Why bother reading feminist literature unless you're trying to know your enemy?
Do you really care what some outsider like Camille Paglia says?

Wait you won’t read her because she dunks on feminism too?

The book is good. Her analysis of the devlopment of early culture as a rebellion agaist "earth mother" matriarchal tyranny is insightful and relevant. She's an honorary male.

weird twitter 2014 typing style, "edgy but ugh not THAT edgy like smdh" 2014 thought style

you should say "problematic" VERY rarely but unironically, just a dash of unironically saying it here or there. also don't change this persona even as you hit 35
