metaphysics is about rigorously proving that ghosts are real

No, it's about proving that your mom is gayer than having sex with Finnish traps.
And also that there is no God except for infinitesimally shredded Parmesan cheese.

So can you say more about why he thinks this? I'm a metaphysicsanon and I think this too. And angels and other invisible entities. And so on. Etc. And so forth.

that would just be physics. metaphysics would be proving that ghosts must be real.

Or proving ghost are not logically and metaphysically impossible.

i don't really know, he is a mormon if that helps. although his beliefs are so different from standard mormonism that he says he would be excommunicated if he made them public
i assume it's just a consequence of being christian, i imagine thomists all believe this too. he believes in a lot of other supernatural things like wendigos, and in those cases it seems to be more epistemology-based. basically in the absence of metaphysical naturalism (which he doesn't believe in) there is no real reason to doubt a lot of testimonies out there
i don't really know the details beyond that. i know it's easy to shrug it off because he's mormon(ish) but believe me he really knows his metaphysics and epistemology, i take him quite seriously

Thanks anon. It's nice to here I'm not alone in my beliefs as a metaphysicsandepistemologyanon. Many such cases of incredulous stares toward me but I remain firm in my convictions.

nah because i don't really think it has an opposite, instead it has multiple alternatives. religious worldviews are the obvious ones but there are others like schopenhauer or something like that. really anything that has a robust positive metaphysics, naturalism is more-or-less the position that nothing beyond the physical world is real
