Something I have realized is that you cannot convert to Orthodoxy without first becoming a Protestant. He need not judge for himself whether the Church's teachings are true. He need only say, "There is the Pope," and join him. This was the way of things in the first millennium, and it was so because the other ancient sees still yet held communion with Rome.
