>It is said that the effect of eating too much lettuce is "soporific." I have never felt sleepy after eating lettuces; but then I am not a rabbit. They certainly had a very soporific effect upon the Flopsy Bunnies! When Benjamin Bunny grew up, he married his Cousin Flopsy. They had a large family, and they were very improvident and cheerful. I do not remember the separate names of their children; they were generally called the "Flopsy Bunnies." As there was not always quite enough to eat,—Benjamin used to borrow cabbages from Flopsy's brother, Peter Rabbit, who kept a nursery garden. Sometimes Peter Rabbit had no cabbages to spare. When this happened, the Flopsy Bunnies went across the field to a rubbish heap, in the ditch outside Mr. McGregor's garden. Mr. McGregor's rubbish heap was a mixture. There were jam pots and paper bags, and mountains of chopped grass from the mowing machine (which always tasted oily), and some rotten vegetable marrows and an old boot or two. One day—oh joy!—there were a quantity of overgrown lettuces, which had "shot" into flower.

Her style is quite Joycean IMO

Australia's only for the Irish the English could catch. It's now most famous for literary hoaxes. The Carribbean is so insane because it's a mix of ones they caught and ones that refused to recognise England's conversion to Protestant royalty. The ones that thought royalty was only Catholic made it inland and tried to become poet kings again, to reasonable success. The Canadians kept them all on an island, which is why Canada suffers from terminal YA. The Irish are like rats that get everywhere and then get jobs where they can add lies to the record. It's how we got the Bible in large part.
tl;dr- Irish people a language virus and Australia is only one of their many victims

She has decent prose I think, but Normal People is such a cringe story. Not only is it a female power fantasy because the quirky nerd girl gets to fuck the Chaddest of the Chads at her school, but it also treats love as a pathetic thing that really doesn't have any value, so the main character sacrifices love for going to university to get an education and a career.

It's pretty clear it's written to an audience of future childless cat ladies.

>It is said that the effect of eating too much lettuce is "flatulative." I have never felt gassy after eating lettuces; but then I am not that sorta girl. They certainly had a very flatulative effect upon the Flop House Cunnies! Even before Wilhelmina Cunny grew up, she had already joined a bordello, full of other young cunnies looking to make there way in the big bad wolfish world. They were a large "family": very improvident and cheerful. I do not remember the separate names of the girls, who totaled sum twenty (tho not even one was as old as that); they were indeed generally known as the "Flop House Cunnies," for reasons that should be self-explanatory to anyone over the age of ten. As there was not always quite enough to eat,—Wilhelmina used to borrow cabbages from the mother of one of the other girls, Petra Fanny, who kept a nursery garden. Sometimes Petra Fanny had no cabbages to spare. When this happened, the Flop House Cunnies went across the field to a rubbish heap, in the ditch outside Mr. McGregor's garden (who happened to be an old perv, but that's another story). Mr. McGregor's rubbish heap was a mixture. There were discarded chamber pots, used condoms and wrappers, and mountains of horse manure from the stables next door (which made the ground feel warm at all hours), and some rotten vegetable marrows and a time-ravaged bloomer or two. One day—oh joy!—there were a quantity of overgrown lettuces, which had "shot" into flower. The Flop House Cunnies filled their skirts with as many lettuce heads as they could carry and streamed back into the bordello to make a cauldron's worth of cabbage, carrot, cucumber and egg yolk soup. Afterwards they all indeed became highly flatulative, with bellies big with cabbage gas, and bloomers filtering sonorous wind after sonorous wind of odoriferous cabbage and sulphurous eggs...

Sally is already done. Her new novel is just more of the same for the third time, but worse. In the coming decades she may write a hit here and there, but she's won't be seen as a great writer. I think the only book of hers that will be reminded is be Conversations with Friends, and mostly for Bobbi, who is a genuinely great character, but I seriously doubt Rooney will ever strike gold again. Conversations with Friends and, to a lesser degree, Normal People are like those inspired albums made by a technically mediocre band that for a short period of time where in complete synchronicity with the Zeitgeist and made genuinely great music because of it, but after that window is over they can't ever repeat it again.

It's not even as good as this. Leftists hate Israel for all the wrong reasons, and they typically combine hatred for Israel with pronounced philosemitism elsewhere.

Their objection to Israel is its unashamed "blood and soil" commitment to its own sovereignty. They hate it for doing all the things that Western countries *ought* to do.

Leftists think Israel is literally Hitler and therefore canceled but they always cope with this by saying Zionism is racist against Jews or something tiringly absurd such as that.
If you want to see a a leftist who finally saw the light, decided to be honest and began to call out the Jew you should look into Horst Mahler.
As for Rooney, boring person boring books. She wrote well about a time in Ireland and elsewhere when many good men and women with good qualities were twisted by the system into sometime more Savage and base. All through her books is the desire for a normal life involving a man and kids but fashionable leftist sentiments stand in the way of that all the time.
It will not be remembered as a good era, and neither should it be.
