If you want to be exposed to his best and most interesting ideas you should listen to his online lectures, the earlier the better. They are all on Youtube and free, and some are very good with lots of insights into psychiatry, evolution, the Bible, what have you.

We have more publishing houses retard. Maps of Meaning is formatted like a textbook (its design is based on >>19809157) and that copy of Beyond Good & Evil is obviously an independent publisher (which probably prints cheap versions of public domain books). The other two are standard paperbacks that are both solid quality (Vintage and Harcourt I think).

I'll admit that Maps is very poorly designed overall and the formatting doesn't work with a softcover. Still, it was put together as a course textbook by a company known for gouging students and Peterson gave away the PDF version of it on his website anyway.

If you want to understand him, you should read Jung (The most schizo Jung isn't necessary) and Freud, and then if you really feel like there's something you're missing read Maps of meaning, but I don't think you'll really pick up anything new.

Why do people have so radical opinions about him?I've read 12 Rules, I mean there's good advice for people with shitty lives and I get why those people like him. I would kind of compare his book to How to make friends and influence people except Carnegies book is meant for people bad at social interactions and Petersons is meant for people bad at life. In its core its just (a very good) self help book meant for your average Joe and it doesnt claim to be anything more or else. Peterson is not a genius but he's not an idiot either. I think that most people who shit on him haven't read the book or focus too much on 3-4 pages of rule 11 where he shits on modern unis etc.

I think part of it is that he stated a "non-PC" opinion (not wanting to be forced to call a man a woman) and didn't retreat to an echo chamber, so he took a lot of shit for it whilst also gaining a lot of fans.
He says certain things that people who have not constructed their world-view based on TV shows and Marvel movies are all aware of, but you're not allowed to say in polite western company (we place people in a social hierarchy, women like men who are more competent than them, trannies are hilarious etc.)
If there is something that makes him uncommon it's that but it's pretty wild that we've gotten to that point.

Personally being a Balkanoid, its weird for me to even imagine saying such things might be impolite in the west.There are public personas trying to push the nu-American type liberal ideology but those mostly get laughed at. The opinions held by Peterson are considered common sense where I live so it's a bit weird reading that people consider him to be a fascist sympathizer.Especially since in his books and lectures he shits on fascism/nazism almost as much as on communism.And I think he does that only because communism is not a taboo ideology in western unis with many professors openily being self professed communists.If it was the other way around, I think Peterson would shit on fascism/nazism much more than he does now.
