Bernhardfags, what do I read?
I don't need a starter book as I am very well read and smart teehee.
Give me his best ones.

>> No.19807522

Woodcutters has been my favorite thus far and wittgensteins nephew was of a similar vein. Skip frost.

Wtf guys! Why are his books so long?! I thought he wrote really small 200 page novels.

corrections. afterwards all of his other books will seem readable in comparison.

>> No.19807975

I don't think that starting with Frost is a great idea tbf

go with the loser, woodcutters or extinction

OP here.
I can get one of correction, wittgenstein's nephew or The loser. Which one?
I already got woodcutters, frost, extinction and the lime works.

>> No.19807997

Skip Woodcutters and the loser.

Read Correction or Extinction.

Why do you own four of his books when you haven't read one?
Based of that I'm reccomending The Loser >:)

I am pirating
I can get one more. Tell me woman, which one?

>there are no obstacles to me acquiring his total output but i can only have one
>his most acclaimed books can be read in 2-3 days tops but i'll consult /lit/ first in case i accidentally waste any time!

Getting other books as well is an obstacle and I don't know if I will like him, but also want to fill my e-library and stare at their cover and imagine reading them some day once confirmed that they are potentially worthwhile. What is wrong with that?

The best entry is Limeworks in my opinion. It introduces all of the hallmarks of his style in a very crystallized manner.
In the end, his best works are the very personal ones though (Wittgenstein's nephew, the auto-biography).

Correction

Read his autobiography Gathering Evidence first. Pretty good intro to his style and provides some context for his other works as well

Yeah, he's an easy read, just pick one that sounds interesting to you. Imagine that -- letting your own curiosity guide you.

try the loser. i haven't read it but i started with Wittgeinstein's Nephew (because it was so short) and it was meh. Extinction goes hard tho, never seen one man hate everything so much, he keeps stepping harder on the gas so that it becomes an eternally crescendoing lullaby of pure hatred

Yes is sub 100 pages

Correction is his densest philosophically
The Loser is funniest (along with woodcutters)
