The article just seems to be a series of misunderstandings about what Christianity is, the author was probably raised in a fundamentalist Christian family and is incapable of seeing Christianity as being any different
What a bizarre article, I went in expecting to get angry but it just seems so pathetic and strange

This shit must be satire.

>In the fantasy world Middle-Earth, there is no religion at all.

>There is hardly a less Christian book than The Lord of the Rings. It features magic and sorcery, both typically regarded as deeply un-Christian.

>Tolkien’s world is founded on respect for difference. There’s no insistence on male domination. There’s no racism, misogyny, homophobia or theocracy—all standard ingredients of “Christian stories.”

>Tolkien replies that it’s “unconsciously” Catholic. And then he undercuts the priest’s point by discussing another woman. His whole religion, he adds:

>“I owe to my mother, who clung to her conversion and died young, largely through the hardships of poverty resulting from it.”

>He notes in an essay: “The Gospels contain a fairy-story, or a story of a larger kind which embraces all the essence of fairy-stories.”

>To call the gospels a “fairy-story” isn’t usually what passes for Christian talk.

My favorite part of Lord of the Rings is when Sauron and Aragorn have a peaceful chat and sort out their differences

in my reich these journalists will be strapped with their naked butts up, hands and feet on the ground, in an open public space.
Pedestrians walking by would be allow to slap their asses at will.
they will be left there until the skin of their ass cheeks is gone, then I'd make them sit on top of salt and hot sauce.

Does this faggot think Catholicism hates women or something? They revere one woman so much to the point where protestants attack them by saying it is worship.

I was raised in one of the most evangelical churches in my area and surrounded by fundamentalist friends and family both before, during, and after college and they do not hate sex, women, gays, and non-whites.
In my view it's a weird forced meme that people try to pin on Southern Christians because they're an easy scapegoat for people to justify their political actions against.
When I think of evangelicals I think of a weak looking dad adopting a black kid over a white kid to earn anti-racism points in their social circles; I think of trashy Christian hipsters lamenting about the supposed anti-gay evangelicals and embracing those people's sin; I think of white people eager to blind themselves to the problems that diversity brings in an effort to "right the wrongs" of their southern baptist heritage.
As far as I can see, most evangelical Christians are psychologically left wing, they just have the remnants of a religion attached to them that prevents them from being liberals. They're constantly at war with themselves.

If conservatives are just liberals from 15 years ago, evangelical Christians are liberals from 20 years ago

You are describing mainline protestants, which tend to be obnoxiously liberal and progressive, not fundamentalist evangelicals. By definition, fundamentalists are people who think the world is 6k years old and that the bible is infallible, and those tend to be lean heavily conservative.
