Why?
As in: why did you like it? Why did you prefer 1984? And WHY the fuck don't you put more effort in to make a thread?

I prefer 1984. Orwell is just fun to read. Every page is full of funny interesting shit. BNW is all right too though.

Read 'Amusing Ourselves to Death' by (((Neil Postman))). The way in which he outlays the epistemology of each media source through history is fascinating.

Brave New World had better ideas but Orwell was a better writer imo. I enjoyed 1984 as a book more but if you're looking for insights and things to think about Brave New World had me making more realizations that made me question my world view. 1984 is just >muh government is bad, which I think goes without saying if you're not a total brainlet

Are any of these Anglo dystopian writers actually good.

>Burgess
Delves into wacky language gimmicks and quips, large parts of each novel are unreadable. His narrative poems are God-awful.

>Orwell
Obvious propaganda, ham-fisted messages, barely even art. Liked him when I was young though.

>Golding
Lord of the flies was dreadful, haven't read anything else.

>Huxley
Appears to be the best, haven't read since High school.

>Wells
Obvious biblical allusions that are atheistic, generally bad writing with annoying schience digressions, or is writing outright cuck novels like Marriage or The Passionate Friends. Spent the entire first part of William Clissold apologizing for writing a 'novel of ideas.' He is behind Huxley probably. I wish he was just better, I like the idea of him more than his actual work.

>Ray Bradbury
I've always liked him, but have never considered him good. Read his first two novels.

Fun fact, the first book was not meant to be a critique of society but a celebration of what Huxley and his dad thought society would eventually become. He did the 180 with the second book.
