Good morning Pickwickians! This is technically our third meeting, due to the unexpected early conclusion of our previous one. >>19767506
I've been toying with a slight change of plans regarding our readings. I understand that many of you are younger fellows, likely students, likely English or otherwise humane students, and you likely have hefty reading materials to go through as it is. So we'll be changing our course of action from being approximately 200 pages a week and a new thread each Thursday, to a new thread each day dedicated to each chapter. However, this is change not set in stone, please let me know if you utterly detest this mode and would prefer another. On one hand, I thought one thread a day would further encourage readership, but on the other, with a weekly expectation you have more wiggle room, and then back to the other hand, due to quickness of our board, one thread a week surely would not survive more than three days.
At any rate, let's discuss, debate, debacle!

fair enough.

one daily thread about one chapter is okay i think, just make sure to put the chapter being discussed on the thread's title so we'd know beforehand

that’s more than doubling the amount of time to get through this tome but that’s alright

what chapter would we be on today then

I figure Chapter Sixish if everyone's been following along at the pace originally set. Let's say Chapter 5 for the sake of allowance.
I want this reading to club to succeed, but it's difficult finding a good pace which everyone can get on board with while simultaneously being able to get as much out of every thread as possible.

Gentlemen, I would like to join you. I have some catching up to do first, I suppose, although only five chapters, which should be surmountable.

No worries. I too have had the great misfortune of being behind schedule and have found myself on the third chapter, but in these troubling times, it is important to remember the wise old adage, "For I may be knocked down. I am sure to arise again. Thou art never gonna keep me down. Pour me a whiskey, and a vodka drink, bar wench."

I admire this endeavor you are all on. I went to Barnes and Nobles and 2 Goodwills looking for a copy of this book and couldn't find it. I don't want to read this as an ebook but I'll give it a shot. Idk if I'll catch up but maybe it'll pull me in and it'll be a breeze or not. Regardless, I wish everyone a good time and am happy to prepare myself better for the next book.

>'because, sir, you described an intoxicated and ungentlemanly person as wearing a coat, which I have the honour, not only to wear, but to have invented – the proposed uniform, sir, of the Pickwick Club in London. The honour of that uniform I feel bound to maintain, and I therefore, without inquiry, accepted the challenge which you offered me.’
