I broke up with my girlfriend because she kept making me do retarded, pointless shit like go spend $14 on a mediocre salad. She called it "doing things together." I told her we can do things that are cheap and interesting, and she told me if it's "interesting," it stops counting as "doing things together," because it's no longer an "us" activity, it's just an activity. She also only got happy when I did insignificant things like buy her her favorite food if I was at the store that sells it. Things like that would overjoy her but one instance of lacking interest in a $14 salad would always greatly outweigh them in the scale of whether I cared about her or not.

I also learned from this relationship that women liking flowers isn't a meme. If you're reading this, you should get your girlfriend small gifts like flowers and chocolates. Maybe a candle once in a while although woman candles are expensive and smell like burning candy. They really like when you do this though. You have to forcibly go against your instincts that cheap, chintzy chocolates or grocery store flowers are stupid, trifling gifts, and that only deep meaningful gifts are worthwhile. Apparently when you get a girl small chintzy things, they think you're always thinking about them and wanting to make them feel special, even when you're in the gas station. I didn't know this.

What I don't understand is that I always was thinking about her, and she was special, but it was like she didn't notice that I felt this way unless I did things that were unnatural for me, like buying flowers. I recommend semi-frequently vocalizing that you find your girlfriend special and forcing yourself to buy her some flowers.
