Hey /lit/, do you have some tips for secondary literature on Moby-Dick? I would like to dive more deeply into the novel or Herman Melville's life. Any good biographies or works that go into detail about the novel?

Reading moby dick now like 7/8 way through but having a 1800s perspective on the biology of a whale is kinda stupid the rest is cool tho i like stubb and the gang

The unauthorized critical edition of moby dick is probably your best bet.

>a 1800s perspective on the biology

that's one of the best parts. When this book was written, it was basically about real sea monsters.

Ignore meme critical edition >>19706562 it will not suit you unless you consider MD shitposting to be a viable academic citation. Norton would do you just fine.
